SOURCE: Oil pressure drops to 0 in 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo

Does it act different when this happens???? If not do not worry about it. It is just the Oil Pump slowing down with the Motor and will not hurt anything. My 600 HP 95' Silverado does the Same thing and it is not a Problem

SOURCE: 2004 Grand Cherokee: oil pressure fluctuates

if you know for certain that the sending unit is correct and the guage is accurate, then yiu may have big problems.....while the engine is running open the oil filler hole.. is everything wet with oil? or does it look dry or just a little lubed? you can allways install an aftermarket oil pressure guage(crappy tire) if you get the same results with that then you may have a week oil pump....worst case scenerio... need an engine rebuild as the moter may have wear issues.does the pressure slowly drop as the motor warms up? at idle ? does it jump up when you step on the gas?

SOURCE: 2002 jeep wrangler oil pressure gauge drops

When the gauge is at 0, is there any noise from the engine (tick, knock etc?) I would have someone put a mechanical gauge on there and read true pressure.Your driving pressure seems OK but if the low number is "real" something is wrong!

SOURCE: 2003 Jeep Liberty. Changed oil, running very rough and dies.

Buy some Marvel Mystery oil from Auto Zone and add it to you engine oil. Keep an eye on your engine oil level everyday with the Marvel in there and change the engine oil every 3000 miles. Hope the Marvel will clean out the lifters for you and the rest of the sludge in the engine. Do Not Use Engine Flush!!!! There know to eat the seals and kill engine sensors.
The EGR could also be stuck with carbon build up and may need to be cleaned or replaced. Try doing this, turn your radio off and disconnect the battery for a min, turn the ignition key to the run position and re connect the battery then start the liberty. That should reset the air idle control valve
Let it idle down and then go for a test drive after it warms up. Good luck and keep me posted, while your at Auto Zone have them scan your liberty for any DTC codes. Be glad to help.

Can you use 5w30 in a 2001 jeep grand cherokee laredo?

Unless you live in an extremely cold climate (sub or close to sub zero) I'd recommend using at least a 10w 40 oil. The first number indicates how well the oil pours (flows) at freezing, the second is how well it protects at operating temperature. Your other option is to use a 10W 40 synthetic which actually flows and protects far beyond the #'s on the container on both ends of the scale. One reason some manufacturers have specified a lower first number is because they feel that will keep the piston rings free.
In reality, any good oil will do that (non-paraffin base) and any of the synthetics will do it better. I live in an area where we get both very cold weather and also some very hot weather. I use a 20w 50 synthetic and have never had an oil related problem (my engines regularly go over 350K and vehicles are replaced for other non engine related reasons such as body rust)

What causes the oil pressure gauge to fluctuate on my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo?

If the oil pressure is good and there is no engine noises then the oil pressure sending unit is the problem.Just replace it and you should be good.Hope this helps.Good luck.
