2002 GMC Yukon blows cold air from the front, rear works fine

Front vents only blows cold air, rear vents operate correctly (blow hot and cold air based on setting). I have checked hoses running to heater and both, supply and return are fairly warm. Fuse for front heater is ok. Car has 102,000 miles and has gone through 100K service by the dealer in Dec.

Check you antifreeze level and make sure its full

the only other things associated with the heat are the heater core and the thermostat...maybe the thermostat isnt opening all the way to allow heat to the front...

  • Anonymous Jan 26, 2009

id go with the thermostat first to see if that dosent help its the cheaper repair of the two about 10.00 if you do it yourself. its hard to tell on the heater core if its bad or not unless its leaking water out somewhere..the only other thing i can think of is the water pump....those are the three things most associated with the heating system. i forgot about the water pump or i would have mentioned it as well. but in any case try the thermostat first and see if it wont take care of the problem

My gmc yukon 2000 slt rear ac blows hot air when i have ac . on and the front works fine .

I have a 2000 GMC Savana Van SLT with front and rear AC/Heat. My front would blow hot while the rear blew cold with AC on. It turned out to be low on Freon. It's hard to know if you have the right amount of freon installed because pressures vary depending on the ambient temperatures. So the best way is to remove all the freon then reinstall the recommended amount as listed on the evaporator housing near the firewall. This worked fine for me... works like new after installing the correct amount of freon.

Front a/c blows cold air but back is blowing hot air

Could be low on freon, a faulty expansion valve on the rear system, or other issues. Can you tell if the rear ac lines are hot and cold ?

How can I determine if my compressor is out on my

If you still get cold air out of the rear vents but the front only blows hot air you may have a bad temp door actuator in the dash, it may be stuck on hot and not able to move to cold air. However if you are low on freon with a truck that has front and rear ac then there will be a temp diff between the two. If it is hot air out the front like the heat is on then you have that actuator problem but if it is cool air about the same as the outside air temp then you may be low on freon.

Airconditioner only blows a/c in the back not front - the front just blows air - not hot or cold 2003 yukon xl

I'm going to assume that is on both sides of the cab? I'm going to say you have an actuator problem, if it's in fact only blowing cold in the rear, and not in the front. The actuators are prone to problems on the gm product lines. Even more with a weak battery.

Yukon A/C, rear blows cold, front ducts a LOT warmer.

There is only one A/C system split into 2 zones. Check the blend door actuator, it may have failed in one position or something may be jamming it. Also check the control panel in the dash, My 98 yukon did the same thing, no matter what temp you selected for the front it would blow at about 70 degrees. There is a circuit board in the control panel that gets corroded and one of the circuits controls blend door operations. Have a look.
