92 4 runner v6- had the heads replaced and it stays a good temperature for at least 45 min and then the temp gauge almost pegs out. I went to check the thermostat and it had been removed, fan is not electric, new hoses, water pump is working properly.
HI RickyGorbett! The first place that I would look is the Fan. Check the Fan Clutch and make sure that it is Engaging. Replace that Thermostat, You could actually have a Clogged Radiator, If you think it might be you will need to Remove the Radiator and take it to a Radiator Shop and Have it Rodded and Dipped. Let me know what you find out! Please Rate my Response, I need all the Help that I can get! Thanks!
No Problem on the Help! Always happy to! I know what you are saying! Usually (Back in the Day) LOL We took the Thermostat out when we were Racing to Unrestrict the Coolant from Flowing. But, Those were 600 to 700 HP Motors! Try a Cool Thermostat and I really Think that the Fan Clutch is Skipping. That would cause the 1 Hour Overheat Prob. Let me know what you Find out!

Thanks for the response. more info.I have had the radiator flushed and like I said there is not even a thermostat in the car. You can take the radiator cap off and take the hose off and see the water pumping. In previous experience with other cars when the water pump or radiator is bad the car would overheat within 10-15 min, that is what has me stumped it takes sometimes over an hour to overheat. The fan is spinning but I will check the fan clutch.
