A few drops of Diet Coke spilled into the CD opening of my car stereo (thanks to that great (and only) cup holder placement and a quick turn. The stereo immediately shut off and will not turn back on. The only thing it will do is accept, with a little pushing, and eject the CD. The cassette player will do nothing, nor the radio. I've tried the steering wheel controls as well. I've also tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. The three fuses associated with the stereo look fine as well. Is there any hope for the stereo? Thanks in advance!!
As long as it is still powering up, it can be removed, taken to a eletrical repair shop, and cleaned. Sounds like the internal drive or gearing got gummed up.
It just needs a good cleaning.
Thanks for using FixYa - A FixYa rating is appreciated!!
i would not suggest doing it yourself. it is much like a laptop - alot of small parts crammed into a small space, and capacitors that need to be drained before working inside to prevent shock.
Powering up = turning on.... lighting up.
The shop might charge about $35USD to do this. If there are additional problems, he can inform you as well.

Thanks. By powering up, do you mean because it still pulls the CD in and ejects it? Otherwise, it has no power. Any chance this might be a "do-it-yourself" project?
