2000 ford zx2 shift for issues

With it on a lift i can switch gears in all gears without cluch or relese fork but once it is on the ground it wont shift.peddel has great preshure and mc sc and all lines have been replaced and vacume blead with a vaczilla. ondemand gives me nothing but put a new trans in. on the road it is hard to force it into gear and dies right after and if you have somone depress the clutch while u watch the shift fork wont engage(or disengage)yet the pressure off of the sc is eather way to much pressure or perfict but still will not engage. im of the suspission that it has to be a bent shift fork or relese bearing, any ideas are greatly appreciated

Can you verify that when you push the clutch pedal to the floor the slave cylinder is moving the pin that goes between the slave cylinder and the clutch fork. It sounds like the clutch is not releasing properly.

SOURCE: gear shift moves fine will not engage gear.

then the transmission has failed or has sticking engagement solenoid in trans pan, have the fluid and filter replaced and see if that corrects the problem

SOURCE: 1988 ford f150 5 speed sloppy shifter hard to find

You most likely have a broken "Detent Spring", usually located in the top
shifter cover of the transmission. Pull up the carpet, revealing the cover
on the floorboards. Take that off, slide it up the lever, to see the top cover of
the trans. If you can see the bolts that hold it on, clean off the dirt so it
won't fall inside, and remove it. The spring is usually located in the cover.
This all depends....on the type of tranny.

How can i adjust the gear linkeage on my 2000 ford focus it is hard to select reverse gear occasionally.5 speed manual

You may want to grease the fork sliders on the top plate. Check the nylon thickness on the forks for excessive wear. Check for excessive shaft end play between the gears and the case. Make sure the detentes on the fork sliders fully engage. The shift linkage arms have bushings so make sure there isn't excessive wear on the reverse arm .

2000 ford mercury 3.0, shifter wont move. had a fender bender, put it into park and it wouldn't come back out.

For car not changing gears it can be shifter assembly issue, or it can also be transmission issue. Get the shifter assembly inspected with ignition OFF.

For more troubleshooting, I suggest you to get the Following help link checked, its complete step by step procedure to inspect gear shift issues: -----

Shift fork wont move/all hydrolics replaced

Just a suggestion here but my son was experiencing the same problem with his Toyota Celica. We replaced the clutch and throwout bearing and MC, had me stumped for days the I pulled back the rubber boot on the MC where the it comes through the firewall under the dash and saw that there was fluid leaking into the boot so basically the MC was bad an it was bypassing the metering valve causing the fluid not to push the slave cylinder all the way down for engagement. On another car ...a 97 Saturn SL it wouldn't shift into gear, also all new clutch components. Wound up being a bad top right side motor mount was bad. engine was sagging just enough to cause the clutch not to shift properly. I hope this helps.

2001 Escort ZX2: it wont go out of park...

There is a safety lock-out that keeps you from taking the car out of gear if you don't push the brake. If your brake lights still work then the switch is good. Also, some people have reported that if the high mount brake light is bad it will keep the car from being shifted out of park. If all of your brake lights work then the solenoid is bad. Remove the center console to get to the solenoid. Since the solenoid is expensive most people just zip-tie the solenoid open so that you don't have to push the brake to shift it from park.

Slight grinding noise in 3rd gear pops out now wont engage ANY gear clutch feels normal shifter feels normal , 190,000 miles was about to need cluch still the original

your teansmission is going to be overhauled. it sounds like the synchros are going bad. the shifter has forks that move the gears. sometimes the forks wear out and it can cause the gears to wear out because the gears are not going into like they are suppose to. leave comment..

Are shift settings supposed to light up? Is it a

Yes, they are supposed to light up. I believe that's on the same fuse as the instrument cluster, so if that lights up don't worry about the fuse. It's probably just a burnt out bulb. To replace, remove the knob - 2 screws, one in the front one on the rh side lift up, use thread lock to install, remove the floor console - seats forward remove one screw each side in the back, pull up to remove the parking brake console, seats rearward remove 2 screws from shift console, 2 pushpins each side, remove cupholders, lift and remove console. four screws to remove dial bezel then you'll see the connector for the lamp (the parking brake handle and gear selector will have to be moved to different positions to move console)
