Cables through firewalls are normally surrounded by a stiff rubber grommet that is either just pressed in place or retained by a metal surround push out/in and pull cable through. make sure you replace it to around the same position before refitting the cable

Change shifter cable?

Year make and model helps. If you have a column shifter, remove the bezel and look it could be a clip or bolt the release the cable, then pull it threw the fire wall. On a console, you have to remove part of the console, or all of it to access the shifter cables. These have clips to remove and bolts at the floor pan to remove. Both are clipped to a mount on the transmission. Then there is either a clip or nut to remove at the selector lever.

My 2008 Chrysler Sebring shifter cable is broken how do I remove. The line out of the fire wall

That forum did not help at all. If it is a 2008 convertible I can show you how to take it out. First remove the radio bezel, then the console, then the shifter mechanism. At this point you can pull the shifter cable away from the mechanism. Now unplug the yellow connectors to the amp and then remove the 3 10mm nuts to the amp and remove the amp. Open the hood and take off the air filter assembly. Just one bolt and it pops off. Then pry up on the shifter cable end. If is probably already off as is why you are replacing it. There is a metal clip where the shifter cable attached to the mount. Stick a screwdriver under it and take it off. Do not lose it. Then just pry the shifter cable up from the mount. Pull it out from inside of the car. Takes about 20 minutes. Hardest part is the nuts to the amp. Good luck.

No fire for 2004 nissan titan,replaced crank position sensor,throttle body(TPS sensor),spark plugs,fuel pump.

How about the high voltage coil, the high voltage wires to the distributor cap, the cap itself and the rotor inside. Any one of these could be the problem.

I have a Saturn 1999 its a 5 speed stick shift the bushing on the end off the cable attached to the stick is broken. should i buy the cable or change the bushing ?

You can't get the bushing. Cable only. and there are two cables to replace. Not that hard, but you will have to jack the front of the car up to access the cable plate that bolts to the fire wall.

I have a 2005 titan which has the electronic shifter lever. I cannot get the shifter to engage and drop to a lower gear. I press the button and it still will not move.

Took my 06 Titan in today for same problem.Dealer said Nissan made wires to short in steering colum and they pulled apart. $277 and 2 Hr. labor at $98=$474. Need to replace whole shifter they said. This should be a recall and under warranty. I'm calling them and let them know what I think!

The shifter of my 2005 Nissan Titan is stuck

If you have the console shift (gear selector in between the seats) there is a shift release button. Nest to the shifter there is a round cover, about dime size. Take a small flat screwdriver and carefully pop that out. Under that cover is a button, you push it and it should release the shifter.

How to change a shifter cable on a 97 sunfire

okay so i fixed the problem myself, this is how to do it. take out the consol shifter bot shift knob. take off the connecting sockets to the shifter. pull up the carpet and follow the cable it goes through the fire wall on the passenger side both cables go through another boot there. take a flat screw driver and pry off the boot. feed the cables underneithe the plastic peice that go through under the dash. open the hood and take off the sockets connecting the cables to the transmission. they are in a bracket a little further down the line pull them out of that then you should be able to take the cable right out. assemble in reverse order
