My 98 escort suddenly lost the blower fan. This has happened before and then came back?!? It is 4 degrees here so I would like to fix this so it doesn't happen again
Re: Blower fan does not work for either heat or a/c
You would have to replace the fan and its on the passenger side under the hood.it has three screws and a plug to take loose and then you can install a new fan

there is a fuse but check the blower connector for power, if you have power at blower it may be a bad blower resistor, this is located near the blower bolted to heater box, this is what sends the ground to blower to complete the circuit and control the speeds.
this isnt the heatercore as it is producing heat and the blower is a fan. the issue could be there is a bad connection to the blower or that the fuse is no longer good.
if your fan (blower motor) stopped working, more likely is the blower motor resistor, is locate it close to the blower motor. if the blower motor is ok, maybe your heater core is cloged.
There's a fan connector about where the passenger puts his toes. It seems to come loose. I've owned 6 escorts(91-98) and ALL have experienced this problem. Push Up on the connector with the engine on and fan on high. If its this connector , the fan should resume function. (I paid to have a pefectly good fan replaced the first time. It's good to get the old parts back at times).
Sounds like the switch,I have had the same happen. Won't work on 1or2 but 3-4 worked fine. The next day 1-2 worked....? With out a meter to check it will be guess work.
Most probably it is a relay problem. First check from car manual which relay is commanding to your wipers, blower etc... Then you or your service have to replace it.
No heat or no air volume? No heat may mean no coolant! check it now! Your 4.2 wont stand for being overheated. No volume, check the fuse, if ok then turn on you fan and check for voltage at the electrical connector at the blower motor (under the glovebox). If you dont have a test light, tap the blower motor . If that kicks it to life you need a blower motor.
Thanks, as it turns out there is a connection under the glove box that was kicked loose by the passenger (likely me).
