After driving for a while when i tried to go into reverse it wont go in, it takes a couple of attempts and i sometimes need to go into park first, also it wont always start in park i have to put it into neutral, i have asked a mechanic who has said that it could be the gear box fliud but i cant find where to put it to check
SOURCE: i have just purchased a
check under the hood and there should be a stick marked transmission fluid up by the firewall one stick will say engine oil and the other will say transmission fluid
SOURCE: finding transmission filter on 1994 SAAB 900 2.5L
The filter is behind the pump, and is not serviceable without pulling the transmission. Someone posted a picture of a filter for the ZF transmission in a 9000. your transmission is an aisin warner.
SOURCE: when i attempt to lower top of 1997 900 se saab its check tcp
you may need to get the motors ckecked ot for the top, if they are week and/or old they may stop right int eh middle of lowering or raising the top, expesive to fix and you have to do both motrs at the same time...
SOURCE: rough idle on 1990 saab 900 convertible, 16V
Because the car has adaptive technology, it may take a while to reset and adjust to the new, cleaner and better conditions than those to which it had previously adapted.
Did you change the cap and rotor? if the plugs needed replacement, likely they do too
Possible other causes include:
loose or corroded connections to any electrical component you disturbed (make a checklist and tick them all off as you check them);
mis-reinstallation of any F.I. part disturbed(checklist again)
obstructed water flow through the AIC valve;
improper voltage output from the AIC valve (for LH 2.4 systems, should output 8 volt at idle, dropping as load increases; for LH 2.4.2 system output 7 volt at idle etc; testing between terminals)33 and 17 at disconnected LH connector;
possible problem with MAF.
Hope this helps

CHECK BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH FUSE AND BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID FUSE.IF BOTH FUSES ARE GOOD.PROBLEM IS THE BRAKE SWITCH FAULTY OR BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID IS FAULTY.
