A crank sensor will usually fail and set a trouble code in the computer.
Once the engine starts the ignition gets a signal from the cam sensor and uses the crank sensor as a reference point.
If the crank sensor fails it generally keeps the engine from starting.

yes it can stop vehicle from starting,but i would call a mobile mechanic to check it out for you,start changing bits willy nilly and it will cost you more in the long run.

I have 03 Yukon Denali XL. When I drive longer than an hour on highway all of sudden all the warnig lights comes on, goes off a minuite later after 2 seconds black out. Reapeats same problem every 3 to 5...
Sounds like possibly a faulty ignition switch, They will cause symptoms very similar to that. Another thing 2001-2003s were known for are bad instrument panel clusters (dash assembly) usually the speedo gets pegged at a certain speed and stays there.
