What's the year,make,model of your Nissan.

    2003 Nissan Maxima SE. Yesterday the service engine light came on. I took it to Auto Zone and the computer gave me trouble shooting code P0021. Intake valve timing control circut failure with probable causes of: IVT control solenoid open or shorted, cam/crank sensors out of phase or dirt buildup at control valve. I am trying to narrow this down a little so I don't need to send money on parts I do not not need.

Spray the Throttle Body with CRC throttle body cleaner
I suspect you have one or more COP Ignition Coils that have failed also. No MIL Lamp or Check Lights on dash?

Misfire issues can generally be categorized as localized or random.A localized misfire in my definition would occur on at most two specific cylinders. In OBD II diagnostic code terms, that would be 2 trouble codes of the form P030x and P030y.; whereas a code P0300 or several different codes P030a, b, c, etc. would indicate a random misfire issue.These two different categories of misfire call for different troubleshooting procedures.In each case, however, the cause of the misfire can be electrical or air/fuel related and can also be continuous or intermittent.I will start with the localized case, so if you have a random misfire, please skip ahead to that section of the post. Engine code p0011/ poo21 what would cause this problem and how do i fix it?
you need to chek your oil!these codes are for incorrect intake valve timing operation on both cylinder banks.the system is hydraulically operated by engine oil and oil pressure.in almost every case i have encountered when both codes have set it has been due to either low oil level or low oil pressure.having both control solenoids fail is possible but rare.im betting your oil is at least two and a half quarts low.

DTC P1750: Mechanical Problem in Hydraulic Control System of A/T Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Valve Assemblies A and B, or Problem in Hydraulic Control System

NOTE:
• Record all freeze data and review General Troubleshooting Information before you troubleshoot.
• Keep these replacement solenoid valves on hand:
• A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valves A and B
1. Check whether the OBD II scan tool indicates another code. Does the OBD II scan tool indicate another code? YES - Perform the troubleshooting flowchart for the indicated code(s). Recheck for code P1750 after troubleshooting. NO - Go to step 2.
2. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
3. Replace the A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valves A and B.
4. Reset the PCM memory with the PGM Tester or by removing the BACK UP fuse in the passenger's underdash fuse/relay box for more than 10 seconds .
5. Drive the vehicle for several minutes in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears in the position.
6. Recheck for code P1750. Does the OBD II scan tool indicate code P1750? YES - Replace the transmission. NO - The problem has been corrected
