GMC 1500 SIERRA CLUSTER FAILURE

I have a gmc sierra 1500. the gauge cluster is completely wrong and pegs most of my gauges and won't reset back to normal. I have noticed my speedometer and rpm are starting to fail as well. I have heard there were many of these trucks that have this problem. I have over 100,00 miles so I am not covered on warranty or recall

No gauges or speedodometer or tach working

GM had gauge cluster problems from 2000-2005. Bad stepper motors. On those units you have to replace the cluster or rebuild it with new stepper motors. Dealership fixed mine for $150.00

Speedometer cable how a 1500 gmc siarria

They don't have cables, the speed signal is delivered electronically to the computer then to the instrument cluster. If your gauges aren't reading correctly it's most likely due to failing stepper motors on your cluster's circuit board, very common on all 03-06 GM vehicles. Check out this page to read more about it and see how to get it fixed - Sierra speedometer repair

Oil pressure gauge reads 80 while running

could be one of two things, oil pressure switch (located on top of engine behind intake) or instrument panel cluster, if your vehicle has under 70,000 miles, it's covered under warrenty
