My 1999 chevy silverado starts and dies within two seconds. has anyone had this experience before and how did you fix it?

My chevy truck ran fine a couple months ago and when i went out to start it the other day, it would start and run for two seconds and shut off over and over and wont stay running.

Does it have a b2960 security code set, i bet it does, it probably has a security problem and is going into fuel shut off, try replacing the ignition switch harness, this is 98% of the time the problem

SOURCE: changed oil pressure switch, still no oil pressure

The fuel pump on that model runs through the oil pressure switch so that if the truck looses oil pressure,It kills power to the fuel pump to prevent engine damage.you need to find the cause of the low oil pressure reading(possibly a bad oil switch). That would be the cheapest place to start,or have it checked with a mechanical gauge.Good luck,

I have a 1996 chevy chyenne 305 vortec 4x4 and my ECM fuse keeps blowing. After the first time it blew I replaced it the truck started, ran for 10min and died, the second time I did put a 30amp fuse in...

start chasing wires. Sounds like something is shorted or worse, a hot wire may be grounded out.
Good place to start is all wires headed to the started as that is a common place for a power wire to melt against hot exhaust.
(that was the case for my 99 chevy)
Check all other fuses and make sure none are blown.

Chevy 1999 Silverado - couple of weeks ago, the truck ran out of gas, the fuse blew, repair shop fixed that, now the truck will start, idle fine, but when you try to drive it dies. Fuel pump? Relay? Need...

What have to do is check the fuel pressure when it dies. What you do is hook up a fuel pressure tester and when you go to drive it check and see if you are loosing pressure. If you do loose pressure then check the connections to the pump and make sure you are getting power to it.If it was fine after the repair shop fixed it I don`t believe it has anything to do with this.I don`t think the relay is bad because they usually don`t go bad.If you want to make sure then you can swap it with another relay that is the same from the fuse block.Hope this helps.Good luck.

My 1999 chevy silverado is cutting out and dying. i've changed the fuel filter, it ran fine about four miles then stalled and won't start.it will start and idle then seems to run out of gas.

Wouldn't happen to be a diesel, would it? If so, do a search on ebay for a remote fsd/pmd module. Fixed my 95 'rado (in less than 20 minutes) with a 6.5 turbo diesel -it would stall wherever and whenever it wanted, without warning.
