Valve cover gaskets

Valve cover gaskets are a snap, even for a real dummy.  Get a set, don't fall for the "BEST IN THE MARKET".  All you need is a cheap set of something, that will seal the covers.  Get a small tube or bottle of NON-HARDENING sealer.  Clean both surfaces , put some sealer on the engine, and the valve cover, put the gasket in place and tighten it down to a few foot pounds of torque.  It doesn't need to be cranked down tight enough to hold back an elephant, just enough to squeeze the gasket.  Let it dry overnight before you start the engine.

How do you change spark plugs on a toyota yaris 2001

First you must remove the plastic cover from on top of the engine to access the ignition coils. The next step is to remove the ignition coils. To do this you must carefully disconnect the plug by holding down the plastic tab while pulling the plug off the coil. Then you must remove the small bolts holding the coils to the valve cover. Pull the coils straight out. To remove the spark plugs you will need a torque wrench, long extension and a self holding spark plug socket. All these can be bought at your local auto parts store. The spark plugs are removed by unscrewing them from the cylinder head and pulling them straight out. Installation is the reverse of removal. The spark plugs are tightened to 25 foot pounds of torque and the small bolts for the ignition coils are tightened to 10 foot pounds of torque.

Need the cylinder head torque settings on a toyota corolla 1990 model ae92 wiht a 4a-fc engine

Tighten in several passes to 44 foot pounds.

I just wanted to add. Since this is an aluminum cylinder head, I hope you loosened the head in the loosening torque pattern. The pattern opposite of the torque tightening pattern. If not, you stand the chance of warping the head.

Again, since it's an aluminum head, it needs to be checked for flatness. Most aluminum heads need to be surfaced before re-installing.

Tightening torque pattern is as follows:

1.The Drivers side of the engine is the Left side.
From the Front going towards the back; the bolts are numbered 10, 6, 1, 3, and 7.
From the Front going towards the back on the Passenger side; the bolts are numbered 8, 4, 2, 5, and 9.

The Exhaust and Intake Camshaft Bearing Cap bolts go to 9 foot pounds. Tighten gradually. One bolt to the other with so many foot pounds, work back, and forth up to 9lbs.

Camshaft Timing Pulley bolts go to 43 foot pounds. (In a tightening sequence, and gradually)
