2006 dodge stratus 2.4 engine keeps blowing out cranksheft seal causing a major oil leak
The fix is replacement of motor!! I have the same problem and have already paid $700 in repairs to fix seal just to find out that the seal is being knocked out by loose crank shaft..Car had 60000 miles when I bought it 4 months ago, from a dealership, and now it needs a motor replacement..I stiil owe $5000 on a car that is worth $0..Dodge did not give the 100000 mile warranty they love to advertise on TV for the '06 Stratus..They only gave 36000 warranty because they did not think it would last much longer..Will never buy Chrysler product again!! They do not stand behind what they sell or they would have 100000 mile warranty on all their cars..
Hi,
I have a 2005 Sebring with 138,000 kms. (86,000milles) And blew the front main seal. Got it replaced and less then 100kms after, same thing. I still owe $4000 on the thing and it is worth nothing. I contacted Chrysler and they want it to get evaluated at one of their dealership. I will go along, but I am not expecting much. My parents last Chrysler product was a 1974 Newport. They told me that if I bought one, I would move out with it. Met my wife and she was a big fan of Dodge and got me converted from GM. Well since The problem, I borrowed my Dad car. 2002 Olds Intrigue with more than 250,000kms. It is a rust bucket, but it runs perfectly. Guess what I am buying next?
should of never left GM. lol

Having same problem with my 99 Stratus 2.4L and after lots of research, it appears to be crankshaft end play that pushes the seal out causing it to leak. And by the sound of it, if the crankshaft has play in it, then it's likely damaged other engine parts connected to it. Meaning rods etc... etc... Change the engine or get rid of it like I am !
Buy a new car and NEVER buy a Dodge Stratus again. Around 30,000 miles, you WILL have this problem. We already paid this car off and 3 months later, this happens. It will cost 4700 dollars for a used engine, but it will just happen again anyway...
Get a new car before this happens to your car and makes for 06 Stratus worthless!
Well there s a blokage somewhere
