My slip light came on today and when i tried to start my truck it wouldnt stay running, i had some help with my friend he added some break fliud and said it could be the problem for the slip light.. it was not.. i checked my semi-new break pads and the're still have a long way before bad, also they are in proper placement. my fuel pump went out two weeks ago so i also checked the wires that plug into the fuel pump.. i just bought this truck with 30,000 miles and i know there good trucks but this is getting rediculous. does anyone have any tricks, tips or pointers to help me find the solution?
I'll try, ???., clear any possible trouble codes from computer, check all fuses, if computer has any codes stored, retrieve them first. this may direct you in the right direction as to what your problem is. a parts store can do that for you if you can get it there. if not, try removing the negative battery terminal, for a few minutes, give 5 min., reinstall, then try to start. any luck ? you say your 'slip' light stays on , what sensor sends this info, wheel sensor ??? front or rear ?? why would this prevent your engine from running ? this would be rediculous ! maybe its something else, fuel pump ? sure your connection to new fuel pump is good? try this, with out starting engine, (have a helper) turn on key, donot start, have a helper do that, you go back to tank, (intank pump) listen for a hum, which only last for 2-3 seconds, upon your helper turning key to on position. listen closely, do this a couple times, do you hear a humming ? if yes, pump is working, if not, well there ya go. next, check fuel pump relay, fuse, most found in the engine compartmt. see if any of this helps, good luck, patience is a virtue !!!

Fuel injected or carb? Make sure fuel line itself is clear. Some pumps are designed to self regulate (carb systems) some continually pump and a psi regulator sends back the excess fuel back to the tank (fuel inj systems) If the line is obstructed then pump can't deliver fuel fulltime.
If you think pump is not on consistent, try running a dedicated wire through a switch directly to the pump. If it works then you are looking for an electrical fault going to pump. Good luck.

do a gauge test. turn off the key and hold the trip meter reset knob. while you are holding the knob, turn the key to ACC position and hold knob for 10 seconds. this will put the cluster into self diag mode. after that happens, let go of the knob and just push it slowly / repeadly and observe the cluster assy. It should be changing and all kinds of stuff should be happening. Don't be scared, you can get out of the self diag mode simply by turning the key off again. Test gauges since those are part of the CAN cyctem also. If NG that you may need a new cluster assy.
