P300 code on a 1998 toyota camry LE V-6

Originally had a p300, p301 and p304 engine code. Then I had the spark plugs and wires replaced at a local shop. The shop cleared the code, and it ran ok for a couple days. Then the check engine light went back on with a p300 code only. The tech at the shop indicated that I needed all three coils replaced. However, I tested the coils by disconnecting the wiring harness while the engine was running and each time the engine shut off, which tells me that they are ok. The tech also indicated that the fuel injectors were ok. Any other suggestions? The car still hestitates and stumbles, especially upon hard acceleration. Although it does run better than it had before I had the plugs and wires replaced. Thanks.

I would get a compression test done. The car should still run at idle with a coil or 2 disconnected, perhaps rough but should still run. I don't want to get ahead of myself but I am thinking head gasket issues.

It turned out to be one of the coils after all. It was the middle coil which operates cylinders 1 and 4. Hence the original p0301 and p0304 code. The tech was correct, although it was just the one coil. Thanks for your response. The car runs fine now.

SOURCE: 1995 Toyota camry Le 4C Missing Problem -

i have came across simler problems in the past so im going to give you a list of four main suspects number 1; a broken or pereshed vacuum hose at the trottle body or inlet manifold.2 a blocked injector 3 a fuel injection system fault 4 a disconnected /leaking or perished crankcase ventilation hose. Before you try any of these by a can of fuel cleaner and run it through your system remember a small piece of dirt half the size of grain of salt is enough to cause this problem good luck.adrian

Most likely I a would suspect the fuel rail had moisture in it. If you checked emissions it would most likely show no HC and alot of 02 and no CO. If it does show alot of HC then I would suspect sticking valves intermittantly . The pinging really points to no fuel issue tho. If you pull the injector connector off and no change then I would remove the fuel rail and inspect. Also make sure the wires are in the correct locations. It easy to get them wrong.

2011 mini convertible misfire. Started with P300 and P301. Changed engine coil for cylinder 1 and all four plugs. Same issue now with P300,P303 &P304. Thoughts as to what to tackle next?

Do the following take coil from cylinder 3 put in cylinder 1, take coil from 4 put in cylinder 2, put coil from cylinder 1 into cylinder 3, put coil from cylinder 2 into cylinder 4, reset computer, drive vehicle if you get codes for cylinder 1 and 2 replace coils

It run badly when cold once warm it runs ok. I have replace coils. Plugs and fuel fliter. The codes are. P300 p301 p302 p303 p304 misfire help please

Is it a 4 cylinder engine, and all four cylinders are misfiring?

Misfires will set a code when the computer senses a lag in power output from a cylinder, based on the input from the crank position sensor. Misfires are usually caused from a loss or a problem with gas, spark, or compression-one of those three is wrong for a misfire to occur. New coils and plugs, so probably not a spark problem-unless the spark timing is wrong-let's leave that for now. You should have the fuel pressure tested, and see if pressure is as specified. If pressure is low, and you have new filter, probably a weak pump.

Check cylinder compression as a last resort. Your lowest reading cylinder should be within 75% of the highest reading cylinder. A compression test is a good indicator of the internal health of the engine, the higher the compression, the more power output from that cylinder. But it should be even and balanced, lowest should be within 75% of the highest reading.

So, gas, spark, or compression?

I don't think it is your catalytic converter because your light usually flashes and a bad cat I never heard of them causing a misfire. I ran your other code it is for a faulty EGR system. Exhaust gas recirculation excessive. You are getting too much exhaust gas back in the system. This will cause your misfire. Go-to a trusted mechanic and have them check out your EGR system.
