SOURCE: Help locating the Ignition Switch on a 2001 Camaro PLEASE!
It should be located on the right side of the steering column about half way to the floor. It is activated by a rod connected to the lock key cylinder that runs down the column to the switch.
Let me know if you need anything further.
Good luck.

SOURCE: replace ignition in 1999 camaro
The steering wheel does have to come off to access the ignition lock cylinder, however the ignition switch is mounted to the column and does not require the wheel to be removed. A locksmith would have rekeyed the lock cylinder. The high beam switch is mounted of the left side of the column and is actuated by a 6 inch long rod. This does not require the wheel to come off.

SOURCE: 83 camaro has no lights at all. all fuses are good
Check the fusible links on the starter harness. There should be 2 black rubber plugs on the wires going to the starter. I'm not sure which one is for the lights. I always replaced both because I figured if one was bad it wouldn't be long before I'd be back under there to do the other one. Hope this helps.
