Assuming it has a 3.1 V-6, it could be any # of failures. Bad plug wires, ignition coils, control module (under coil packs), crankshaft position sensor, map sensor, throttle position sensor, egr valve, fuel pressure regulator, fuel injectors, engine coolant temperature sensor, vacuum leaks; have it scanned for trouble codes to help in diagnosing! If you think it is just over fueling (flooding),look at fuel pressure regulator or coolant temp sensor ( when they fail the computer thinks its always -40 F causing it to over fuel). A bad map sensor can cause the same. Hope this helps. Thanks in advance for rating me!

1995 F350 460. It started acting like a fouled plug so I changed all plugs, wires, Dist cap & Rotor. I noticed the #4 Spark plug had an oily residue on it. I changed oil and gaped plugs.

I would suggest checking the cylinder compressions as may have a ring problem, if ok investigate the gasket you have noticed, what is the mileage ? might have to balance cost of repair against value of vehicle, hope this helps get you started

We think that it stopped running due to no fuel. the engine ran rough ever since. Seems to be flooding to the point that fuel was getting into the oil in the sump. Running rough ever since.

Get a cylinder compression test done to check head gasket and to check head is not warped or cracked.
if head gasket or head problem = one cylinder may be affected causing fuel could get into the oil via a blown head gasket. if one cylinder not firing it would run rough.

Has the engine been over heated recently ?

2004 liberty 107000 miles. Engine runs rough at 2000-2500 RPM causing steering wheel and gas pedal vibration. plugs due to be changed.what else could cause this rough engine

I think you are on the right track with a tune up. Replace the wires, air filter and oil as well. I also would run a cleaner through the fuel lines. An STP or a Lucas would be better.

Hi Brian,

The airflow sensor is working with temperature. If there is a problem the car will flud with fuel. I suggest that you change this senror.

Good luck..

Engine light on, and runs rough

It must be something else making your check engine light come on.

Missing, running rough

head gaskets do not "dry out"
running rough indicates injector problems --stale fuel dirty injectors or sticking injectors
run the fault codes to determine fault area
oil around spark plugs indicates that the rocker cover seal under the plug tube is leaking into the plug area
