My heat in my 2001 ford expedition will not blow heat out of it. I just replaced the thermostat and that did not fix the problem. What else could it be?????
After using the heat in my 2000 Ford Windstar one night we returned to it the next morning to find a clicking/knocking noise in the dash behind the vents and NO HEAT!! All of the vents for front and rear climate control are open but blowing cold air. We have no coolant leaks, the coolant was at the fill line, no sweet smell in the cabin area or under the hood. My mechanic checked the thermostat and said it appears to be operating properly. what could we be talking about here in the nature of diagnosing it and repairing it? I'm about to have a newborn baby soon and we MUST have heat. PLease help!!

IT'S the actuator behind the radio ...thats where the clicking is coming from...tiny plastic gears are stripped .. the actuator opens and closes the flap to let in heat ...$50 part ...i did mine myself

It could be a bad heater core or clogged.ask you mechanic about it to see if the heater core being clogged could be the problem
The heater in your car depends upon a flow of hot coolant going through the heater core in order to get hot air into the car. If the heater core is partially plugged, it will restrict the flow. If you have a head gasket that is putting exhaust into the cooling system, it will eventually get into the heater core. When this happens there is no coolant in the heater core to make the air warm. If the water pump vanes have corroded away the result will be very poor coolant circulation causing the heater to not blow hot air. If your car is equipped with a heater control valve that is not functioning properly, the coolant flow will be restricted. One or a combination of these factors is likely the culprit in your case.
Flush the heater core 2-3 times, and if the obstruction does not clear, a new heater core is required.
