Have a 1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse with a 1.8L 1775cc. I'm thinking of putting a bigger motor in. Can I go bigger horses with out changing the transmission, bell housing, or motor mounts? Would like to put in the 2.0L with MFI-Turbo it puts out 190 horsepower @ 6000rpm.
If you swap in the turbo 2.0 4g63 your gonna need a turbo trans. the non-turbo wont work and he motor mounts should bolt up the same..hope this helps
Well you can do it for alot cheaper then buying a gsx or gst if you do the labor yourself but you have to use a turbo trany and cv shafts and ecu and resister pack then run a new exaust and intercooler piping and well i wrote a 106 page manual on how to do it but its hand writen i can type it up but seriously u need to have this done by a pro some one who has done it before because one slip up and your car may never run again and im not exagerating a 2.0 to 2.0 turbo conversion isnt a walk in the park but a 1.8 to 2.0 turbo conversion is an auto techs worst nightmare disecting and re wireing the engine harness alone is so confusing that most tech cant do it and the ones that can wont the best thing is to buy anothe car but the cheapest is to do the conversion the choice is yours but i warn you dont think its gonna be easy and dont think your looking at a weekend job this takes alot of time if you want to do it right
You could buy a GST/GSX. for what the swap will cost you.
