Hi i just want to know how i can improve the fuel economy of my car. i changed the muffler for a sport one and i also had an oil change ls month. My car's engine is a 1.6L 16valve DOHC. intake filter is stock. i am just wondering if i should tinker with the carburetor-looking mechanism where the air filter is atached, coz it seem to have idle control, air control and others, my cousin made adjustments to it some time ago setting the rpm to about 8500/ 9500 with AC. but on my calculations the car is doing like 8km to a liter. please help me out sirs. please inform me if you need more details on my problem. would really appreciate any hel
SOURCE: 2000 Nissan Sentra rough idle
a rough idle/high idle is indicative of a malfunctioning TPS(throttle position sensor) this is located on the throttle body ,is attached with (2) screws/bolts to the throttle body housing right off the butterfly shaft. it has either 2 wire or 4 wire plug. the replacement part can be purchased at locale auto parts store. I would also agree that a full service and tuneup be done. this will help with performance and will increase the fuel efficiency. please rate this...thanks

Take a look at Nissan Technical Service Bulletin NTB05-15b. Title = "Rattle Noise From Vias Power Valve Actuator / Intake Manifold Collector" This appears to describe your problem exactly. I have the same problem with my 2005 Xterra and I am going to try the recommended fix myself at home.

SOURCE: Nissan Altima 2000 - Engine oil leaking problem.
replace the front oil seal. first i would clean the engine with purple power (degrease etc.) then look at the engine and make sure the leak is not coming from above like possibly the valve cover gasket or from the oil sending unit. try to tighten the bolts on the valve cover and even the oil pan. you never know, you may get lucky. i don't know where you are but front seals are cheap but the labor on the job is what costs you.

if there where any fuel control issues the check engine light would be on, the muffler may have made the fuel consumption worse as it changes the system back pressure and flow through the engine, this could cause fuel control issues.
do u have any OBD 2 trouble codes?
