I have a 1998 Lincoln and I think I need to replace the power steering hose! I have a book but it doesnt tell me what panels or what to do to get to the power steering pump. You cant see a thing under the hood! I thought i may go tru the other side of the tire in the wheel well or tru the top and start taking off shrouds and radiators! I didnt want to get started and be going in the wrong direction first! please help thanks Rodney
Dear Rodney.
Please go to the car parts store or the public library and get a repair manual and look at the job.
I do "driveway repairs" at my house, and this one could take you many days, and dozens of hours, not to mention the special tools you might need.
Look at the job in one of the books, or go to a shop and give the man or woman 5 or 10 bucks and ask them how to do it before you start.
Your car may be down for many days, and perhaps once it is done, you might decide never to try that again!
God bless your efforts.

The part you are speaking of is actually the CCRM (constant control relay module) It houses all the relays fuel pump, pcm, ignition. Check over on the drivers side of radiator and you will see a grey 2 pin connector. This is the ground feed for the CCRM. It is probably corrioded.Clean it or cut it out and splice and solder the wires back together and this should fix your concern.

your inner tie rod end either broke at the ball joint or it was not installed properly and came loose from the steering rack. Either way there should have been an issue with the steering prior to the popping noise. If there is power steering fluid there had to be damage to the rack and pinion unit and it will have to be replaced.

If your talking about the heater pipe and hose under the intake....(to ease removal you can remove the inlet air cowl/wipers/etc.) remove upper intake/coils/fuel line etc. the tube is bolted to the back of the RT head...replace the entire tube/hose assemble....IF the tube at the frt of the block is corroded/damaged/etc. you will need to replace that also (remove waterpump for access and installation)...change you T/Stat at this time also....hope this helped you...GL
SOURCE: draining radiator coolant
IF it was really dirty before empying the old coolant - you should do a flush before re-fill with the new collant.. You can get it at any local parts store.. Follow the directions..
IF SO - I highly recomend Lucas prduct.. More money - but really good stuff.
If it was not too bad - yes - run some water therough it..
Allways do 50/50.. If you use too much coolant - you risk the cooant gelling..
Also - there should be a Lucus pruduct that is a coolent additive and is also a great lubricant for the system and water pump - to make it last longer..
Please dont forget to rate well ;o)
