You are saying the engine cranks but does not start, right ?
Does it sound like it has compression ? If not could be a broken timing belt.

All the belts are intact. The car tries to turn over, but will not start. It ran earlier this morning, but refuses to crank back up since returning from the pharmacy.

Still have power, ignition is working, dash lights, etc.

You would not see the timing belt unless you took the cover off. A ticking noise would normally be a valve but could be something with the timing belt. If you have normal compression on all 4 cylinders you would check for spark at the plugs and fuel pressure at the injectors.

Will take a look at the plugs and injectors in the morning. Been pouring over forums and other owners suggest checking coolant sensors?

If the coolant temp sensor failed, the radiator fan would run constantly, and you should have a check engine light with a code for the sensor.

So you need to have someone check compression on all 4 cylinders to check the timing belt and cam.

Sounds like the the Bendix is bad in the starter, which pushes out the drive gear to engage the flywheel. You'll need to replace the Bendix or the starter. It's a bit tough to get to the starter, it is underneath the intake manifold.

1993 saturn sc2 wile driving car shuts off like you turned off key then it is hard to restart

could be faulty fuel pump or stopped up fuel filter.if you are getting fuel, the idle air control valve stop working, or you have faulty crankshaft sensor and a camshaft sensor, need to code scan vechicle first to see what sensor is faulty.

Same exact problem

Okay it could be one of 2 things. A) you are leaving something on in the car such as lights or leaving a door open a little. B) you have a bad alternator. To check it once you have a complete charged battery, start the car. Let it run fora few mins. while the car is running disconnect the battery. (this is completely safe) If the car turns off you have a bad alternator. Please let me know the outcome.

Fuel system

Car is not seeing rpm's. Sounds like a bad crank sensor. The rpms signal the pump to turn on while the vehicle is running.
