Was runing fine then started to loose power stoped at a light engin died. tryed to start battery went dead . put in nutral rolled off the road.used jumper cabels would not start got 4 gallons 0ff gas crancked for a whail then started but ideled rough. would run good reved up. drove home but kept getting alarms abt tracktion control and stabaltrack needing service now idels rough and shift hard up and down

Could be throttle position sensor, a air mixture sensor or an oxygen sensor. If oxygen sensor then replace all of them or you will strain the others and then you will have to keep changing out the oldest on like a cat chasing its tail. smile.

You've got a whole bunch of sensors on this car. You need to put an OBD1 scan tool on it and see what the codes are. OBD1 is very vague but may pin point you to the problem. Sounds like a bad Idle air valve/sensor. Could be a throtte positioning sen. More than likely cause in my educated guess, you've got a bad crank position sensor. If not that than its a cam sensor. good luck

you might want to replace the plug end. I had a 99 neon with the same ploblem changed the sensor but the plug was shorted, changed that and it run great ever since.

The torque converter clutch could be stuck, which would require transmission removal to repair.

May be throttle position sensor. The engine light comes on because of afault signal from one of the sensors. Going out is temporary. After 3 events, the ligh will come on again. It needs to be scanned to find the problem sensor. more than likely the TPS. Good luck
