98 S420 won't shift from first gear...

My uncle parked his 1998 Mercedes S420 for about 7 months and when he tried to drive it again the car will not shift from first gear after several tries it moved for about 50feet and stopped. The car was driving fine before it was parked. Any clue how to resolve this without breaking the bank ?

SOURCE: trying to get automatic gear shift out of PARK

I had the same problem with my 1991 300sl, it ended up being a nutraul safety switch. It would not let me shift out of park, no matter what I did. I ended up having to have it towed on a flatbed truck to the dealer,, cost me both arms and a leg.
If you are car handy, check out the nutrual safety switch.

The shifter needs to be inspected. The shifter assembly is got misaligned, it has to be open and realign.

Toyota Tercel stuck in gear

Its a gear shift issue.

The shifter needs to be inspected. The shifter assembly is got misaligned, it has to be open and realign.

There are many other possibilities. But if it was working right up till now and suddenly this occurred then its shifter assembly alignment issue.

2000 grand prix 3100 tran. didn't whine or slip and fluid doen'st smell burnt. But the car won't move it is like it is in N. all the time.

could be a selector failure. easiest to check first or internall drama with torqu converter ,one way clutch or other. these will require r@r n overhaul

2003 chevy suburban 4wd 1500 lt shifts slow to 2nd gear and vibrates between 65 and 70 mph

Sounds to me that you need your trans fluid changed and filter. When you do change it use a quart of Lucas transmission conditioner to it. Also check and see if you may have a bad univercel, It will also make it vibrate at faster speeds or your drive shaft may need to be rebalanced.

94 toyota is over 3000 rpm at 40 mph

It can be the issue with Transmission or problem with gear shift assembly.The system has to be inspected and tested.----------
