Hi! We have a 2001 Isuzu Trooper that just passed the 100,000 mile mark. Since we got it almost two years ago, we've had intermittent problems with the Check Engine light coming on and the Low Pressure light at times, and then it just dies in the middle of traffic! We can't find anyone around here who can diagnose Isuzu's so nobody can tell us what the problem is. Here's a rundown of what just happened to me today: On my way to work this a.m., the oil light came on (this is mainly my husband's vehicle, but I drive it during snowstorms :>). So I went to a quick lube and got an oil change and they told me the dipstick was bone dry. After leaving the quick lube, the Check Engine light came on and stayed on. Went back to the quick lube at lunchtime and they checked and said all looked fine. When I went to leave work at the end of the day, the Check Engine and Low Pressure lights came on, and I couldn't get any gas when I pressed the gas pedal. Turned it off and back on a few times, no luck. Pressed the Power Drive button and was then able to get gas. Ran about 20 miles just fine, then did the same thing. Had to pull over, shut it off, and turn it back on and then was fine the rest of the way home. This same problem just comes and goes. We can go months without anything happening, and then it'll start again. Any ideas???? Thanks for your time!!
Isuzu is a dead car company few less on road every day till none at all, finding a mech that ever seen one is going to be hard.
and worse every day , why own any ISUZU>?
they bugged out in the USA,as did suzuki, yugo, daewoo.
no engine stated, nor vin code 8th digit (means engine code)
the check engine light can come on for loose gas cap
or far worse, not scanning it now, is really a bad choice.
seeing as how you will have to teach your mech how to fix an Isusu
LOL that.
ever heard of ASE shops?, they will not make lame excuses.
Google find ASE shops by ZIP, (its not a brand shop its skills)
wow you don't check your own DIP stick that is a doom practice if
ever there ways, super bad on any engine
check oil every other fill-up. if it drops too fast every week, do it "every fill up"
same thing since 1884 to now, no changes..!!
why let quicklub touch your car, why not real ASE mechanics?? and not untrained oil swappers.
what if last joker put antifreeze down wrong hole. (they do all the time there)
I'd at the least watch their every move....
Find a real shop and get it serviced and tell the
"Low Pressure lights, deal and hear him yell at you.." sorry, but is
justified.
THIS lamp? if on?, means 2 possible things
1: engine will burn up and seize bearings soon. (fast)\
2; the pressure sender is bad.
do not ask this quick lube jokers why!
lets see this cause?
drove with no oil in pan (or small and sucks air in turns, ouch)
lamp glows, you ignore it! BAD to bone ,that.
then burn up 1 main bearing, it now has horrid clearances, on 1 bearing, could be more.
makes noise now, and now fuel pressure will never be good again.
scratch one good engine. all for lack of basic weekly service.
(per fill up)
btw older cars need checks more often.
as the burn more oil you learn that
and adjust your actions to prevent above.
in a real shop not jiffy jokers (kids)
they check oil pressure, using a real
pro-grade hand gauge,!!!! fast !!!!
to be sure the sender is not just bad
but FAR more important is it the truth
if it is the truth? , pressure is low.!
3 to 5psi below that, then they try fresh new oil. 10-40w,
if pressure is still low now?, they try a new oil pump regulator (if stuck open!)
or new pump if easy to do, id dont know as
no engine size was stated,.
one more failure mode
a stuck on injector (bad)
fills oil pan with fuel,
now oil is like water and pressures very low and soon wreck engine bearings or cam.
find real mechanic, with ASE badge.

my experience with these isuzu check engine light is that your air gas intake is not being properly regulated what you need to to change out or clean really good your kanooder valve and duflauge sensor. after those two things are taken care of reset your engine light by resetting your engine light relay or fuse.

Drop the small tin sump down and look at the longer of the pick up pipes for a bad O seal or cracking .
This lets the pump pull in air so you dont get pressure - some times they even fall right off .

1295 simply indicates that you were in "get you home" mode. 1515 has to do with throttle position sensor fault. Since it was intermittant I'd check for chafed or broken wiring and loose connections

Hi.
If problem is only on startup and when idleing, then the problem is likely IAC system, also a vacuum leak will cause the same problem.
If problem is not only on startup and idle, but also when driving, then MAP sensor and EGR system must be checked.
Check also accelerator cable state and setting.
The first thing to do is pulling out the OBDII fault codes stored in the ECM. This is done connecting a code reader to the ECM diagnostic port. The job can be done for a small fee at any local garage, and it is done for free at AutoZone.
The codes will help locating the problem.
About possible faults:
Problem is stalling when idling and during startup, but engine idling fast all the time. Problem not starting at times it is due to the fact that the wrong mixture is being sprayed, this is probably causing flooding and misfire. Since the CEL is on, one of the codes returned is probably misfire.
Check accelerator.
Check IAC system. This is composed by a valve and a solenoid that check and control amount of extra air air when the engine is idling. The IAC valve is located on top of the throttle body.
Check the vacuum system and try cranking with gas tank cap off. Vacuum
system is tested using an hand tool gauge onvacuum lines while spraying
card cleaner on the hoses (or heating them with a torch). If there is a
leak, pressure will go up. A big leak will also do hissing noise, and
will often result in a lean code when doing an OBD code scanning.
This kind of symptoms can also be caused by weak wiring to MAP/MAF sensor (MAP in this engine).
If the car also drives very rough and is revving up and down in a weird way, check the EGR valve.
As first thing I would do a code scanning. This car is OBDII. The scan can be done for free at the nearest Autozone, or for a small fee at any garage.
If you get any OBDII code from the scan, report it here, so that we can individuate the possible reason for the problem.
If you repute my solution helpful, then please take some times to accept the solution. Providing good repair tips requires time and skills, and your feedback is important for us.
Regards.
Ginko.
