I have a 1994 ford escort, 1.9L. Manual transmission. It has an extremely rough idle (i have adjusted the idle to componsate), shortage of accelerating power and continiously dies after getting off the freeway and taking it out of gear or when pushing the clutch in. i gave it a 5 star tune up; oilf, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, plugs/wires, and PCV valve. The car is still having the problem. I'm thinking it must be something to do with the air or vacume system...can anybody help? It is killing my gas milage; went from 30MPG to 20MPG. PLEASE HELP!

You mention plugs and wires, did you change the distributor cap and rotor button? Check for broken, split, loose vacuum lines.

SOURCE: 1994 ford ranger extended cab 6 cyl fuel injected 2 wheel drive automatic

This year of ranger had a few flaws, In one case, a break power booster was robbing the vacumm, you can test this by plugging it off and seeing the differance, but you will have limited brakes. This model year had a problem with a vacuum leak on the manifold. You can check these in many ways, but please don't use starting fluid. The rear of the manifold usually on the drivers side where it seals to the block.
Also, in 2 other cases a cracked head has gave me the same problem. It is caused from a loss of vacuum.

There could be many issues. These codes read your engine is running too lean. Check : all your vacuum hoses for leaks, PCV valve and hose, MAF sensor. This may require an experienced technician to figure this out. Hopefully I help'd!!

U i have a 97 ford escort that idles rough so i replaced the wires and plugs it still idles rough but runs a little better the coil shows spark on all cylinders any ideas

Often, on the Escorts of this vintage, rough idle can be due to a leak in the vacuum system. With the engine running, listen closely for any tell-tale hissing sounds coming from any of the vacuum hoses. Check that they are all securely in place and the end-clamps are all tight. Also check that the PCV valve and the hose connecting it to the manifold are securely in place. Another possibility is the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve. If it is clogged or sticking, it can cause rough idle. Refer to a service manual to diagnose the IAC valve. Other things to check: make sure that the air intake is unobstructed and clean. You might consider cleaning the manifold and throttle body. Check the air filter and replace if necessary. Let me know if you have any other questions.

1994 Camry auto transmission - running extremely rough, no acceleration, transmission seems to be odd (high rpm's before shifting)

Take the vehicle to a shop and have the transmission checked. This could be a simple adjustment or a need for a new filter and fluid change.

1994 ford escort vibrates horribly in idle, does not stall. Idle is set @ 800rpm, runs smooth when raised to about 1200rpm. Suggestions?

Your Idle air control valve is probably going bad. It is located on the throttle body and is a relatively easy fix as it is only held in with 2 screws. Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!

My 1999 Ford escort idles rough when the car is in drive and im on the break.

While this can come from several sources, a 'normal' misfire from a single plug can cause that. Another possibility is the idle air control may not be functioning as it should.
You didn't mention it but we can assume you have an automatic transmission. Standing with the brakes on and the tranny in drive, does load down the engine somewhat (drag) so nearly anything out of whack can cause the rough idle.

There is a set screw on the side of the throttle body, use small adjustments to bring it up slightly.
