It's strange that your diesel engine starts fine when it's warm but not when it's cold. My truck has a similar problem, but I keep it outside, so it's always cold, and it never starts properly. I'm going to need it more when it starts to snow, so maybe I'll take it to a service that does repairs for diesel engines. You might try that too. http://www.swdieselservice.com/services

Are you keeping it plugged in so the heater on it keeps it warm? you might try adding a diesel additive to the diesel

Dip the oil and check its on the max , then put 2 litres more engine oil in the sump - this trick proves the oil pump pick up pipe welding or seal is ok or bad common fault on 3.0's

98 Isuzu rodeo, engine cranks and trys to start but it won't

If this is a diesel engine you probably have an air lock in the fuel system. It will need "bleeding" before it will start. If you have already tried bleeding the fuel system there may be an air lock in the injectors. If it still doesn't start I suggest you carry out a compression check because diesel engines need to be in good condition to start easily, especially in cold weather If it is a petrol engine, there could be problems with engine timing or ignition problems.

My Isuzu Trooper 2004 4JX1 turbo just underwent a general engine overhaul. Its cranking but will not start. All electricals are ok. Does the PCM needed to be reset for it to start?

The ECU will be fine with a engine rebuild but the 4JX takes a bit longer to start if all the injector oil paths are empty - can be up to 5 or 6 mins of 20 second cranking bursts.
Also if you rebuilt due to diesel in the oil from bad injectors the control valve for the injector oil pressure may be faulty so it wont start.

2001 Trooper turbodiesel oil pressure gauge

Drop the tin sump and check the pick up pipe as the pipe can crack and the seal goes hard so lets some air air in for a bit .

Cold starting problem

It may be a good idea to get the heater glow plugs checked out. They are usefull first thing in the morning especially with the cold spell we are having.

MY 1999 ISUZU BIGHORN CANT START EVERY MORNING

If its the diesel engine the fuel is running out the head overnight try parking the car with the back up higher than the front to prove this , then get the valve from the Isuzu dealer that stops this .
