Just rebuilt the Motor. Double checked all the sensors, everything is seated correctly. Plugs are on in the correct order. Tried to get timing set correctly following online suggestions. They said to turn the the crank to TDC the line up the cam Exhaust: with the E straight up and the I facing the the I located on the back plate. The Intake: with the I facing up and the E facing the E on the back plate. Set the timing belt, engine will turn over but still sounds like blow back from the cylinders through the intake. I think that the timing is still off. Please let me know what the correct ignition sequence is and if the timing setting marks are the correct way to set it. Or is there another method.

Hi El Faraon,
I believe that you're dealing with 12 mm bolts and nuts....THESE ARE NOT THE SPECS FOR YOUR ENGINE, but I believe that if you use them you'll be close....Tighten in three stages up to 22nm....choose the bolts from the centre of the manifold and circle outwards until you reach the last one.....It may be a good idea to draw an overhead or plan view of the unit, marking out the bolt positions.....Start at the centre and mark the sequence and follow that....What is important is starting at the centre, so that nothing becomes warped....
Hope this helps,

Well you have good compression so your cylinders are OK.
I cannot help you with the vacuum hoses, but, try and plug them because if they are sucking air they will make the mixture weak and that will cause the engine to run badly.
To be honest if it is rocking about as much as you say then I would suggest it is only running on three cylinders. If you are happy with the sparkplugs and HT leads then it has to be a fuel problem, the injector with the broken plastic part? are you sure its operating correctly?

The keyway and or the dot on the crank should be line at 12 oclock. You will see a point on the oil pump housing to go by. On the camshaft the pointer will be at 12 oclock also. Use the O on the camshaft to the top at mark. Be sure to look at the dist. roter to make sure that it is pointing at the #1 spark plug wire. I could get 180 out of time. If you do it right it should start up right away. then you can use a timing light to finish it.
