YOUR HEATER CORE MAY NEED REPLACED CHECK PASSENGER FLOOR BOARD SEE IF IT'S DAMP OR WET OR IF YOUR WINDSHIELD ON THE INSIDE GET MOISTURE ON IT SURE SIGN OF BAD HEATER CORE. MAY ALSO WANT TO REPLACE YOUR THERMOSTAT CHEAPER THAN A HEATER CORE.

If you are talking about the belt for the ac compressor, yes the heater should still work.
If the blower is not working, you will need to have the blower motor checked for voltage and ground.

My 1999 alero fan will not work.I have replaced the blower motor and checked fuses and still nothing.The heat and air are working fine just not blowing.
Its either a bad connection on the blower motor resistor or a faulty blower motor resistor.These are known for over heating.
