2003 Sunfire automatic 245000km runs well, engine stops while driving, clicking under the dash, then restarts , runs fine until next time

Engine stops intermittently, all warning lights come on, clicking under the drivers side dash, restarts okay and all warning lights go out. Once happened at 70kmh engine restarted itself and again runs fine. Oil in the engine and trans changed twice a year with amsoil. This problem started after the battery was replaced, Suspect a ground problem, but warning lights come on, then go out.

With the details that you have provided, it sounds like it may be either a ground, or ignition relay, but I've also encountered the same problem being the starter wire to the starter. The reason I think that is because of your dash lights coming back on .If you have use of a voltmeter you can test and see how much power is actually going to the starter An ignition relay could do the same, but usually won't interrupt the engine after it's running.

SOURCE: sunfire gt 97 2.4L. car won't start, small

sounds like a starter solenoid went bad which it is easier to replace the whole starter assembly then just the solenoid and you can get one with a LLT Limited Life Time warranty.

SOURCE: Car stops while driving

The lt1 has many sensors that can go bad. When the optispark goes bad the car does not idle regular. When the car shuts off at a light or with the ac on it can be the idle air control (IAC). When the car shuts off when your foot is on the pedal or regular driving it can be the ignition control module (ICM).

Why does my 2003 pontiac sunfire lose all power while driving

That can be the symptom of a bad Ignition Control Module, or also a bad crank position sensor. The ICM can be taken off and tested for free at any parts store. The crank sensor circuit can be tested on the car with a multi-meter. Also small motors (like a fuel pump motor) that are starting to fail can sometimes work until they get hot and then stop working until they cool down again.

Next time the car shuts down and won't restart, check for spark on a spark plug wire with the engine cranking over. If you have no spark, suspect the ignition control module or the crank position sensor. If you still have spark, but won't start, check if the fuel pump is putting gas up to the engine.

Rod knock upon start

Not sure on model but to me sounds like its a dodgey valve lifter when the seals start to go they cannot hold the oil and when there under pressure they basically empty them selves hence when you turn the engine off and restart you get a rattle sound untill the valve fills again as long as the cars running ok leave it untill you have to replace them unless there easy to do sone are sone are a pain

1993 dodge Grand Cherokee with a 318 hard starting when cold until things under hood click and fuel pump runs.

Your jeep ecu is in need of repair. It has what is referred to as the delayed check engine light problem. If you'll notice, next time you try starting the jeep, it will not start when the check engine light finally comes on, on the dash. The fuel pump will only come on when the ecu finally energizes the relays, and that's when all the clicking starts. Look on ebay for an ecu repair service.

Well, if it is doing all of that, the Check Engine light has GOT to be SCREAMING at you! Continuing to try to force the vehicle to operate under such conditions will only cause further damage to the vehicle. I would recommend getting the thing to where you can scan your onboard computer and find out what is going on.

2003 Pontiac Sunfire - When I turn the ignition on the dash buzzes, kind of like an alarm or a loud whirring noise. The gauges do not come up right away. If I leave it for a second or 2 it will sputter...

The problem could be a power supply module that supplies various voltages to the instrument panel (IPC). If it is acting up, it can make this buzzing noise. If that is it, it will eventually fail and the IPC gauges will stop working.

2003 sunfire- came home from work, parked car, about 3 hours later i tried to start car,but it would not start, engine is turning over fine but will not start

Check fuel pump to see if it is starting when you turn on key. Check under hood for fuel pressure. If a fuel pump is on its way out the car will run until you stop and it will not start when fuel level is below 1/4 full. Usually you add fuel and it will start but unless you keep it full it will act up again. if it is happening and adding fuel allows the car to start replace fuel pump because you will have to do shortly anyhow.
