My 2000 1.6 golf is very slow to catch up on speed and whenever i try to over rerve as to catch speed quicker it gives a shaking movement, when i drive between 140 and 160 km/h i need to do a pumping movement to accellerator for it to increase more speed,, its more like it looses air somewhere in the pipes or pressure. at home it is a bit steep when you drive out of the yard and i really struggle to drive out on reverse as it sounds and feel very lazy, it can move but when its half away it looses power and rolls back. when you rerve it it goes up but suddenly the rerve goes down as if it dies.service is up to date. what is air flow meter and is there a possibility that it might be a problem?

SOURCE: I have a VW Golf 1.6 FSI 05 Reg, some times it

could be numerous of thing and the list can go on, especially at times it run like a dream than other time it run horrible. Go to auto zone and have them plug it to computer for free and see if will throw a code, this way it will narrow it down instead of guessing and buying parts hoping that will fix the issue, this can be very expensive and there is no way to test the parts, beside checking the basic, plug, wires and coil. the computer will help narrow it down than guessing. then re post and one of us will try to walk you through it.

Rattling noise in left front end of truck near wheel well at slow speeds

Remove the front wheel and check the wheel bearing, sometimes you may have to may have to put a bar under the wheel and try to lift it up hard, this will give you an indication on where any movement is. THERE IS A PROBLEM and you need to find it

Cannot breach top speed

It may not be powerfull enough.
The speedometer scale on cars is generic that fits many other models and those other models may go faster then yours.
Check your owner manual for specs.

Filling up with fuel

Your over flow vent might be a little clogged So if you pull the nozzle out a bit you allow air to push the gas into the tank.
