SOURCE: 1997 Honda CRV - Engine just dies while driving down the road.

I had that same problem a while ago. I changed the coil and the ignition and I have had no problems since. Give that a try and see if it works. I have a 1997 honda crv myself and it seemed to work.

SOURCE: idle is too low, car dies, engine runs fine

An IAC (idle air control) motor is designed to adjust the engine idle RPM speed by opening and closing an air bypass passage inside the throttle body. The car computer or ECM (electronic control module) receives information from various sensors and will output signals to adjust the IAC motor in or out to adjust engine idle speed by controlling engine idle air.
An IAC motor is highly susceptible to carbon and coking build up; if an IAC goes too long without cleaning it can cause stalling and poor idle quality. Some cars are designed with a large vacuum transfer hose that connects the intake manifold to the IAC (idle air control) motor. If a broken or dilapidated these vacuum lines can cause the engine to lose vacuum which will allow the engine to run rough and die.
Inspect all engine and accessory vacuum lines to look for missing, torn or dilapidated lines and replace as needed. To check the IAC motor remove the unit, with the wires connected turn the key to the "on" position without starting the engine, the IAC should move in or out.
If the IAC motor does nothing it has probably failed, replace it with a new unit and recheck system. Note: while the IAC motor is removed clean (use aerosol carburetor cleaner) the passages the IAC uses to control idle air speed.

Good luck and hope this helps

Get a can of carburetor cleaner and spray it into the throttle body while the car is running.

SOURCE: iac location on my 1999 honda odyssey?after engine

The IAC is located under the throttle body.

k42282_17.jpg But check the Power Steering Pressure sensor wire first. The wires are known to break at the sensor harness and cause idle problem. if it's broken then repair it first. Look from under car view.

98 honda crv engine stalls whats wrong?

The IAC [idle control motor] may be sticking. This problem usually occurs once the car exceeds 80,000 miles in service. Remove the IAC and clean it's interior with carburetor cleaner. Reinstall it using a new gasket. Sometimes, cleaning will not suffice & a new IAC must be installed. A sticking or leaking EGR [exhaust gas recirculation] valve can cause the same problem.

Where is the piont where you plug in the diagnostic connector on a 2001 petral vitara

The common faults on this engine are EGR valve and IAC valve.
The EGR causes rough running and cutting out,
The IAC causes just cutting out without the rough running, stalling at junctions etc is the usual complaint.
If you pm me the cars reg, chassis no etc i could see if i could email you the manual its a pdf so should be quite straight forward.

Stalls out at stops or turning a corner. rough

See if this looks like your engine, I'd concentrate on pulling IAC valve off & cleaning it good with throttle body spray cleaner, as well as port it came out of, then re-install it and see if it's better. If it cures it or make it better, but then starts to do same again, replace it.b753d98.gif

Gas gauge would not move and car started very rough.

This sounds like a ground problem to the fuel pump and gas guage sender, they share a common ground connection.
