2001 Ford Windstar 181,000 miles. Check charging system light comes and goes. Auto zone checked battery and alternator as O.K. Panel lights flicker occasionally. Factory tv and rear DVD player dead. NOW, it has starting issues. Starts and runs but won't start again later.
T sounds like a battery problem ,, and or possibly a problem with the rectifier circuit.l That is what converts the AV current from the alternator to DC. if its pushing AC power the battery wont charge and you will have these issues with electrical malfunction.. you will also need to check your ACC fuse for the player and TV that inst working.

Sounds like you have some EGR ports clogged up, remove the intake and look at the egr ports all but
#1 cyl port will probably be at least partially clogged, hope this helps
SOURCE: ABS & Check Brake System comes on occasionally
wait till it goes on again and go to your local pepboys, autobarn autozone rand s etc they usually offer free computer diagnostics, get me the codes, i cn help you then,
SOURCE: Instrument panel went dead
Checked Every fuse in the fuse box (no small task). This includes #4 - Power point Instrument Panel, #14 - Day time running lamps (auto lamps doesn't work nor does auto lock), #27 - ignition switch run feed, #35 - Instrument Cluster, #41 - Instrument Cluster, #42 - Delayed Accessory, #45 - Ignition switch run/start feed, #102 - Door locks body security module, #103 - Ignition switch, #110 - Ignition switch, & #116 - Ignition switch. But I also check all other ones as well, they all register OK. AC panel & radio work. Turn signals work. Mileage does not work, trip computer does. So, basically, everything works except auto head-lights, auto locks, and the dash cluster (no MPH, RPM, mileage display, Fuel, Temp, Tran Temp, and Oil Pressure).

Its probably the alternator. It will need to be tested on the vehicle with the engine running and the light illuminated. Measure the battery voltage with the engine running. It should be at least 13.5 volts. If it is lower have the alternator tested at a shop with a charging system tester.

Obviously I did something wrong when posting this question as half of i didn't appear. My big concern is the brake issue. They are still locked an the brake pedal is soft until it reaches the floor.
master cylander may need to be replaced
