Car wont start but has gas

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Is the battery charged? Does the starter motor crank? Is there spark at the sprk plugs?  Do you smell gasoline fumes from the tailpipe?

I have a 04 vw passat also. i dont know if it makes a difference for location of the fuel pump that mine is the 1.8T, however, my mechanic removed the old and replaced my fuel pump through a door in the trunk on the right side. easier than having to get under the car if you happen to also have that option. worth a try to look.

92 vw passat 2.0 16v wont start.

I bet it's the gas. After some time the gas will no longer be volatile enough to start the car. Try draining all the fuel and putting in some fresh gas. Remember, when you try to start it again you'll need to get the new gas through the pump and lines before it will start. Also, check the condition of the injectors. Old gas can start to break down and build up a film that could be on your injectors (or clog your fuel filter- better check that too). Hope this helps.

3 fuel lines in 92 passat the thinnist one goes from fuel tank to under the charcoal box next to the engine and does a y....its not working..the pump and filter work..whats this third line??? my car wont...

The third line is part of the evap system. The charcoal cannister serves both the engine and the gas tank. It shouldn't necessarily have gas in it. Hope this helps.

When i try to start my 99 vw passat gls v6 it will barely start and stay started for possibly 5 sec with no presure on gas pedal if i keep my foot on the gas it will stay running but the rpms wont rise...

it hard to say there few things that could cause this but sounds like it a Fuel issue
Possible bad fuel pump totallly clogged fuel filter bad injectors Out of gas etc.
first thing you need to do is check your fuel pressure ( I bet it be low ) if it low check fuel filter if fuel filter good replace fuel pump
If Fuel pressure is within Specs then test the injectors
if Fuel pressure is ok and injectors test out ok then check ignition system (spark plugs, coils, module etc)

1995 volkswagen passat vr6 wont start the injectors are getting fuel but its not getting fuel to the engine. The injectors are getting spark and the fuel pressure is good.

if it fires then dies, you have to reset the alarm system with the key/remotes???otherwise you need to plug in the diagnostic computer(saves hours of "fun")

I have a 2004 V6 Volkswagen Passat with 110,000 miles on it and it has suddenly began to idle a little rough. Any thoughts?

Could be a lot of things. A sensor, bad gas, clogged fuel filter, spark plugs, plug wires, camshaft position sensor, etc.. Check engine light on?? If so, have the the code scanned to find out the fault code. Go to your mechanic, or local auto parts superstore...most do it for free banking on you will buy the part from them.

Engine turns over but won't start. No fuel in the

If there is a rubber return line going back to the gas tank clamp it off with vise grips. If it starts it is the fuel pressure regulator. If not try changing the fuel filter.

Just wondering where the fuel filter is located.

i think the fuel filter is connected to the fuel pump below the vehicle in front of the tank.
