Last year I got these codes with my check engine light. We replaced the air filter, and the mass air flow sensor. We reset the computer and the light came back on a month later. What else can it be?
Thanks for your reply, and you are probably right. My husband found one collapsed hose. We replaced it and 2 days later, the light came back on. So I ended up taking it to a shop who found another hose with a HUGE hole in it. Picking it up today, and I hope that's the problem. The first hose took care of P0171. P0174 still showed, so we're hoping that's the issue.
Thanks again!!!

Check all vacum lines starting with the pcv valve vacum line. check while engine is running ,lisen for air leak.if u have a vacum leak then this will set these codes.

So you replaced the sensor and now the light is back on, right? Have you checked the code again to make sure it's still the MAF sensor code? If so, you've got a connector or wiring harness issue.
ok lets start with the codes they say your getting. P??? which 1's and how many. there are few o2 sensors, are they next to the Exhaust next to the converter? MASS AIR FLOW -MAF use this, for now i am guessing, until i see the correct codes your are getting. this could be the 1 you may have below, please read it........
Faulty mass air flow sensor
- Intake air leaks
- Dirty mass air flow sensor
- Dirty mass air filter
- Mass air flow sensor harness is open or shorted
- Mass air flow sensor circuit poor electrical connection
Before replacing the mass air flow sensor, try replacing the air filter and cleaning the air flow sensor with low compress air or mass air flow sensor cleaner. Reset code and drive vehicle. If the code comes back, it may be necessary to replaced the mass air flow sensor.
possible symptoms Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Engine stall
- Engine running rough
- Excessive fuel consumption
- Excessive smoke
the code is generated when An excessively high voltage from the sensor is sent to Engine Control Module (ECM).
Possible causes
- Faulty mass air flow sensor
- Intake air leaks
- Dirty mass air flow sensor
- Dirty mass air filter
- Mass air flow sensor harness is open or shorted
- Mass air flow sensor circuit poor electrical connection
Before replacing the mass air flow sensor, try replacing the air filter and cleaning the air flow sensor with low compress air or mass air flow sensor cleaner. Reset code and drive vehicle. If the code comes back, it may be necessary to replaced the mass air flow sensor.
Before replacing the mass air flow sensor, try replacing the air filter and cleaning the air flow sensor with low compress air or mass air flow sensor cleaner. Reset code and drive vehicle. Check for air leaks on or around any intake pipework using a good spraying of carb cleaner, if the engine surges then that's the leak. Check wiring to Maf and if the inside is dirty, again use carb cleaner liberally...NOTE: do not use Wd40... If the code comes back, it may be necessary to replaced the mass air flow sensor.
