How do i change door switch on cadillac xlr?

You just need to use a flat screwdriver to pry the door switch from the slot where it sits, disconnect the wiring from it and install the new one in reverse order

It actually sounds like the micro switch in the drivers door that reads the key fob is bad, if the key works and the fob works on the other doors and the trunk. You will most likely need to have the door handle replaced, they're not very expensive by themselves but it can be a lot of work. First things first...replace the cheaper part first, the battery. It that works, great! If not, then you may need a new key fob then have it programed to your system.

handles may be in good condition but the lever on the latch itself may have came loose. your mostlikley looking at dismantelling the apolsery with the door closed to rectify it.

There is a 2 wire switch that goes on the backside of your door lock cylinder. Prob got knocked off when u were in there. Till u can look just unlock the pass door or the lift gate with key and that will shut alarm off

Try WD40 on the latch inside the gas door.

There is a special procedure involved in keying your fob to your car once the battery has been changed. You must lock and open the door with your key. Turn the ignition to "on"(not start) then push the fob's open and close button, then shut off ignition. This procedure is done everything the key battery is changed. Hope this can help you!

Step 1

driver side door.
Step 2
Turn the ignition switch to the
'auxiliary' position, then turn the ignition switch to the 'ON' position and

I have done this on my dads x type. it does work. do not forget to have the drivers door open like i did.
