I have a 2005 Hyundai XG-350 and the glove box broke and wont close. Looks like the latch inside the swinging door disconnected from the door. Any suggestions on a fix - should I try to open the panel to the door to reattach or just find a used glove box door online (is it any easy swap out?).

SOURCE: glove box latch broken

The latch is sold seperately. Call your local dealer with the last 9 of you vin number to get the right color. Most dealers sell at the same MSRP price as all the others in town. I know cause I sell these all the time at my Chrysler dealership.

SOURCE: driver's side door latch wont open door from inside

Go to http://www.hmaservice.com/ and register (vehicle by VIN). Afterward, you'll have access to technical information (manuals, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, etc) about your vehicle.

SOURCE: glove box latch broke close. How to open?

Hi, how are you? From what you are describing the latch on the inside sounds like it has broken and is not releasing. You can try to lay on the floor and look up in the bottom of the back of the glove box there are two tabs one on each side. If you push these tabs inward the bottom of the box should come free and help the top to come free. If you cannot see the tabs or can’t get the tabs pushed in, you are going to have to force it open, you can do this with a flat pry bar, wrap the end with a cloth to protect the paint. The good news is that the glove box latch is pretty cheap to replace.

SOURCE: The rear latch/handle on our

Here's how I repaired mine. Go inside and remove the plastic 2" square plastic cover. By pushing on the lever inside this area, the latch will release. Push on the door at the same time, when the latch is pushed. With the door open, remove all four screws from the plastic panel. Now pry carefully the big plastic panel off the door. There are plastic snaps holding this on, all around the edges. Now there is another metal cover over the latch mechanism under this panel. Remove this. You now can see into the latch area and put the handle back into the slot where it came out of. You'll see that the ends of the handle can be put back on the round bar, but to hold them in place, I attached 2 nylon ties on one end. You can also purchase a metal push on retainer from the local hardware store. Mine has been repaired for 8 months and had no trouble. Ford used no retainer on these handles and after prolonged use, they bend and the handle can be pulled off. A twenty minute job. Your wife can even do it.

The latch of the glove compartment broke. Can't open the compartment

If you look under glove box you will see two to four screws that hold the glove box on. Take out the screws and the glove box will drop down and you can get inside and release latch..then you can get a replacement latch and replace.

How to open a glove box door when the latch is broken on

check under the glove box door to see if you can see the hinges. Sometimes you can unscrew the hinges from the bottom. Else you have to knock out the hinge pin on both hinges, open the door from the bottom and see if you can swing the door up to undo the latch.
If this does not work, cut a hole in the bottom ot the glove box, it is usually made of plastic or papier mache, release the latch from inside, then you can remove the plastic box once it is open and replace it with a new one. It will cost you, but it will be less expensive that breaking down the metal door!

From what I can tell, it looks like u have to remove the whole glovebox door which entails removing the lower dash panel on the passenger side.. That should give u access to screws to remove glovebox door. Don't tug on the door when u remove screw's, just enough space to get ur hand or something else up inside to unlatch.. If u need further info, let me know

Glove box wont latch

If the glove box was closed wrong than the latch that keeps the glove box shut will close on itself. If you take a pen or a screwdriver and put little pressure on it and try the handle again it should open. if thats not the case than replace the handle, the locking mechanism with in the handle or the spring broke or came apart.

Glove box door flaps all the way down when I open the glove box.

Look up inside the right or left side of the dash where the glove box closes. There should be a screw that holds stop your talking about. Re attatch it. Unscrew the screw. If broke then use a small nylon strap n secure it to that screw n to the place on the inside of the glove box door.
