I have tried to reset the values but to no avail. So its definite that something is wrong. Question now is, is it ABS, sensor or vehicle speed sensor. Also where is the vehicle speed sensor located.
The ABS (anti lock braking system) requires wheel speed sensors to operate. When one of the wheel speed sensors fails you will get an ABS warning light appear and it will not disappear until you have fixed the problem - in this case replaced the faulty sensor(s).
It is not a DIY job so do not attempt to do it yourself when you do not know what you are doing.
Many thanx for your reply. I have fixed faulty VSS on different makes before. Advantage then was it was specific tasks that I was asked to perform with a someone else having diagnosed the fault. Whereas in this case I just need to be sure of the meaning of P0500. and speed sensor "A". If anyone knows please update. Oh it is something I will do myself no doubt. if I manage I will post images and information on how to fix the problem, I have been taking images and feel am near to fixing this, please heeeeeeellllllllllpppppp..
I dont know what happened to the rest of my initial post but my concern that I had posted is mainly on whether I a ooking t replacing a single vehicle speed sensor or 1or more of 4 abs sensors.

They are not the sensors you want. The car uses the abs wheel sensors for vehicle speed. Your problem lies in the abs system , possibly the left front sensor, abs ecu or speedo cluster, Clear the code and see if it stay out otherwise you'll need to go to a trusted technician. .

Hi Liz, I am in exacty the same position as you although I just had the new abs pump fitted and I still have the same problems??? I am going crazy with this, my garage's diagnostic machine won't commuicate with my car and my speedo is not working? My mechanic reckons the abs memory is stuck in a loop and that is why the lights ain't going out, but without a diagnostic I dont know, I guess I will have to take it to a dealership to be ripped off!!!!

SOURCE: ABS and service light reset after brake change
the ABS light resets itself every time the key is turned off and on, it is self testing and will only turn the light on when there is a problem in the ABS system, worn out brakes don't cause the ABS to come on, if the light is on the system has a fault present and it must be tested with a factory system scanner to determine the source of the fault or at least the area that is causing the problem, that can be one of the four wheeel speed sensors, a defective ABS hydraulic control unit and sop on.
