you could have a pin hole in the rubber pipes. or gasket blown. as for cold air that can be a blocked internal rad for the heater or the switching for the diverted is not working. if you losing a lot of water or just a bit it will give off white smoke also known as steam. check were it is coming from get engine up to running temp and wiggle pipes about faveret place for a pipe to go is the top rad pipe.

Fan is not coming on and car is overheating

Fan not working. Check connection under vehicle. Very common connection is bad. Are has been pulled loose from someone hanging a droplight on it while changing oil or working under PT. Run a hot wire directly to fan to check high side and low side operation. If operating and connection is good. Check temp sensor located by radiator fill cap not overflow. Has a single wire. Relay is in fuse box under hood. The fan connection can be cleaned and will work for a while. But I have found it comes loose in a short amount of time. I just cut the connector off and install aftermarket. There is a lot of over heating problems with PT.

Will a pt cruiser run perfectly fine with a blown head gasket.lots of white smoke, but runs fine

If i remember right the color of the smoke will tell you what it is and i think blue smoke is water getting into the combustion chamber. The car can run like this for a while. Lots of times the car will run like normal besides the smoke. But the passage in the gasket will continue to get bigger and lead to more serious problems.

I have a 2003 pt cruiser my problem in that i am losing water and donot see where it is going I dont see any leaks anywhere and the car isnt smoking any color smoke i dont know what to look at first

Some times a small leak will burn off if it hits a hot part of the engine or exhaust. Look close for corrosion, or sign of it leaking, but the best way is to have the coolant system pressure tested.

My pt cruiser 2001 is using 1 qt of oil every 250 miles????? we just bought it.

1) If you can see white smoke coming out of the tailpipe, then the engine is either clapped out, or some rings broke in a piston . 2) If no smoke is visible, then it is losing the oil somewhere, and you should see the oil spots on the floor. In a few cases, it will leak the oil only when running, and it will leave almost no traces while parked.

2001 pt cruiser running hot after changing thermostat and radiator cap, it starts wonderfully, never even stalls when it runs hot, the only thing running hot is the antifreeze, it bubbles up , and the car...

Likely it's not a head gasket (yet) You should check your fans to make sure they are coming on properly. check that there are no leaves or debris stuck between the radiator and the a/c condenser and that the radiator is flowing well.
Even though the engine is running well after it gets hot, it is not good for the head gasket and can cause it to fail...take care of the problem asap!!!

'06 pt cruiser shudders when stopped

Check to see if theres a recall on the engine mounts on your vehicle. It's very unusual they need to be replaced after 3 yrs. They should last the life of the vehicle UNLESS it was in deep water or is in extreme cold or hot temperatures.

2001 pt cruiser no heat

did you check the fluid level by removing the rad. cap? Radiator should be full to top. If Chryslers are low on coolant, the heater will not blow warm air.
