Max horsepower is at 3400 RPM so I would say probably 4500 would be a redline number.

Can i put gas engine in 83 f350 which had 6.9 diesel

problems that can be encountered is the bell housing bolt pattern and size, engine mount positions
ECM and wiring harness and sensors
fuel tank venting is different
most vehicles running diesel engines have a higher diff ratio to compensate for the lower max rpms of a diesel engine
you may have to put the heavier suspension in as well to compensate for the heavier engine
I t will be a good project as long as you are aware that it is not s straight swap

My pickup runs at an extremely high rpms. it is a 93 F250 powerstroke turbo diesel any thought on what i should try?

check the timing of the pump as pump timing if incorrect will cause engine failure . High rpms may be from the accelerator control not being assembled properly on installation or if ECM controlled the connection to the pump is not correct. Looking at ford diesel rpm specs , some fords run to 6500 rpms while others are at 4500 . As you have not stipulated the engine size or capacity ,it is hard to advise other than to go on line to googlr - type in ford max rpms for your engine and see what it is suppose to be

What year is this engine? and ci

From this chart - I think you may be misreading the number - 3970010 is possibly the actual number: Which makes the engine pretty old 68-72 350 V8 - 4 bolt main. I included past this number so that you can see that the number you posted doesn't actually exist. And thus my conclusion that the 9 is most likely a 0. Hope this helps. 3970010 350 69 Corvette late 69,4 bolt main 3970010 302 69 Camaro Z/28,Late 69, 4 bolt main 3970010 350 69-79 Truck 2&4 bolt main 3970010 350 69-79 Pass,Chevelle,Camaro,Nova,MonteCarlo 2&4 bolt main 3970010 350 70 Corvette 300,350,370 HP 4 bolt main 3970010 350 71 Corvette 270,330 HP 4 bolt main 3970010 350 72 Corvette 200,255 HP 4 bolt main 3970014 350 69-77 Pass,Chevelle,Camaro, Nova,MonteCarlo 2 or 4 bolt main 3970014 350 69-79 Truck 2 or 4 bolt main 3970014 350 72 Corvette late &undefined;72,200 HP,255HP 4 bolt main 3970020 307 68-73 Pass,Chevelle,Camro, Nova 3970020 307 69-73 Truck 3970024 307 69-73 Pass,Chevelle,Camro, Nova,Truck 3992386 327 68-69 Pass,Chevelle,Camro, Nova,Truck Large Jounal

I have a 1978 ford inline six has a newer holley card having hard time adjusting it. Runs great at lower rpms and idel but when you drive it loses power and backfires.

As you know, you have one of two things going on. it is running too rich or too lean. Run it hard for 15 minutes pull the plugs and check for black, wet looking soot = rich. Brownish, whitish dry looking soot = lean. Be sure your vacuum advance on the carb is hooked up to the proper port. Check the full advance of the timing with a light to be sure you have proper advance during rev up. You want 22 degs. full advance. If you have a pull choke try to close the choke to see if that will level out the hi end. If that works you are running to rich. adjust as necessary to lean it out. Too big a carb can also be your problem. For the best carb to engine size double the cubic inch of you engine. If your engine is a 290 ci you max size carb should be approx 550 cfm, Now if you engine has a hi rpm cam profile you have to factor in needed cfm at hi rpm. Thats why such and engine for racing will not have good bottom end or low rpm power. Sounds like you have just the opposite going on. Which can still be caused by a over sized carb. Too much fuel not enough air or room in the engine to burn it.

1986 mighty max 2.0 engine makes a ticking noise most of the time. At higher rpms it stops. What could it be ? It kind of sounds ike a vaccum leak ? maybe ?

A ticking sound is usually a valve and if it stops at higher rpms I would guess it is oil related. Seems like the oil pump might be getting tired and not pumping enough at low rpms.

79 F-150 4 speed trans.

If I were you I would stay with the automatic because a 5 speed will actually use more gas in the long run and cost you less than replacing everything to a 5 spd.. Try playing with the timing and carburetor to get the max mpg.
