Keep working it around till it can be removed. I recall some where you had to bend them a bit nearly to the point of breaking them before they could be removed.

Turns out we had to run the bolts out and bend the cover...got the front bolt out, but cover snapped when trying to manipulate it to get rear bolt out...eventually, the starter came out. Thanks for you assistance.

Good. Actually, breaking the plastic gm stuff when removing should fall under the preferred method-it happens so frequently.

Check fusable links in your battery cable and starter wires. Do you have power at the starter where the positive cable attaches? Your battery is good? Do you have any power anywhere else?

SOURCE: where is the starter located on a 1992 ninety

The starter is located on the left side of the engine on the bottom, this would put it in the front of the car near the transmission.Stand in the front of the car,on drivers side, just to your left of the headlight, towards the middle of the car,and look down to the bottom of the engine, the starter is there bolted to the engine, but it sticks into the transmission on the side of the engine, remove the cover on the bottom witch covers the head of the starter, and you can access the bolts that hold it on,and the rear bracket n the starter. Also remove the wires remembering where they go back on.

My 1990 c10 van wont start, the starter starts to engage but then stops

Sounds to me like a bad bendix on the starter or a bad flywheel, pull the dust cover off the front of the trans (after you remove starter) and inspect flywheel for worn or missing teeth. You will have to rotate the flywheel to check all the way around, but some times the bad part of the flywheel can be seen after the starter is removed.

Where are the bolts to remove a starter 1990 oldsmobile regency 98?

There are only 2 bolts. They go straight up through the starter motor housing into the engine block. You may have some plastic covers that go around the starter and flywheel area that will need to be removed to get to them.

How to replace the starter for a 95 buick lesabre

Be sure to disconnect the battery first. There are HOT wires connected to the starter. Disconnect three wires and two mounting bolts. It can be difficult to reach a wrench in there.

The new starter will come with shims, thin strips of metal. These are for getting the right distance between the starter gear and the flywheel. Hopefully you won't need them. But if the new starter is noisy when mounted, shim it some.
