Saturn Keep blowing horn fuse

I previously had the horn keep sounding continuously. It also blew the fuse. I since replaced the horn and everything seemed ok. I honked it a couple of times and patted myself on the back for getting it fixed. That was yesterday. Today when I went to honk it, it didn't sound. I checked the fuse and it was blown. I replaced the fuse and it blew instantly. There are two wires going to the horn. I believe they were green and black. The original horn had a special plug that the new horn did not have so I cut the wires and crimped on some terminals that slid onto the new horns terminal posts. Other than those two wires there are no other wires to the horn. I believe the ground is just the stud that mounts the horn to the mounting bracket. I used the existing mounting bracket that was used on the original horn. Please help I really do not want to have to wire a push button horn in this thing so it will pass inspection. I'd really like for the steering wheel horn to work.

Could be a short in the steering wheel or column. Or a faulty horn relay.
You may need a wiring diagram to trace the circuits from the relay.
Usually the black wire is the ground and the green is voltage from the relay.

SOURCE: the horn doesn't blow. at

Your problem is most likely a defective clockspring assembly. This is also called "spiral cable assembly" it is located just under the steering wheel on the steering column and makes the connection between the main wiring harness and the circuits for the air bag and the horn. I cannot give you wire colors because your question did not mention year, make, model, engine size or whether the vehicle is equipped with cruise control or not. (cruise control makes a difference in the clockspring assembly used on your car.)

Anyway, the air bag and steering wheel has to be removed to fix it.

I need to get a fuse box layout for 1999 Saturn SL2. The horn is not working in my sons car and we would like to determine whether or not it is the fuse. We can't tell which fuse is for the horn because...

The saturn horns ARE notorious for failing, you may have to replace the horn because it has a built in horn relay that is the cause of the failure. YOU WILL KEEP BLOWING FUSES if the horn is not working because it's grounding out through the bad relay that is built into the horn. DON'T go with a loud or aftermarket horn if you don't know how to wire it safely or you will fry the clock spring in the steering wheel, just stick with the stock horn and you will be fine.

2008 Ford Escape Horn fuse keeps blowing after replacing alternator. Horn sounds once then the fuse blows. Also radio and song info that displays in the dash console with the compass does not work... The...

I would trace the wire from the horn and see if it was inadvertently damaged when the alternator was installed. If you have a voltmeter, you can remove the horn fuse and check to see if there is continuity between the horn (non hot side) of the fuse and the car body. This would indicate a short in the wire running from the fuse box to the horn. You can also look around the alternator mounting area to see if any wires are being pinched. Hope this helps. Good luck!

My daughters 1998 honda accord ex keeps blowing fuses she is having to replace the brake light fuse after we replaced the brake light switch when she changed the fuse last the horn blew and she was shocked...

The horn and rear brake lights are on the same fuse. Eventually the horns rust out like on my 1998 CRV. Once I replaced the horns, I could put in a new fuse without it blowing every time I sounded the horn. Problems still remain, namely: the cruise control does not engage and the remote start only starts the engine that runs for two seconds then dies. Still looking for an answer. It's a "Code Alarm" with Codestart dated 11/24/99.

97 Saturn SL1 horn fuse keeps blowing when installed.

Sounds like you have short to ground somewhere, I would check the wires near the horn itself and if they are ok check the clock spring.

98 saturn sl2 horn is constantly blowing.

You may just have to wait it out until the shorted out areas dry out, or disconnect the battery cables, replace the fuse, reconnect the cables and see what happens. HOWEVER: If you do, you will also reset everything else electrical. . .

Horn fuse keeps blowing out

Check the wiring around the horn and make sure nothing is touching metal...look under the hood at the horn and make sure everything is pluged in and there is no water on any plugs or wiring...Make sure the fuse is the correct number (ex: 10, 20, 25) If it is still blowing out the fuse then you after you do some checking then it is a short in some wires
