I have a 89 4 wheel drive chevy 1500 and the power steering is leaking i have followed the lines and they seem to go throught the fram of the front of the truck is is a metal line and i dont know what line this is. all the replacements line are not this long and i am lost. i dont know if there is a power boost on the truck but i dont think so so any help would be great glenn
Well if you have power asisist it will run from the master down to the pump and ger box.if you feel you have the wrong line you can go to your local car dealership remember to copy vin # down they can print you a diagram with a part number on it. also autozone has z-net on line with repair info and how to info

thanks for the info one thing if the truck has a power asisit will the master have more than 2 lines coming out of it ? and would the breaks not work right if the steering was messed up ? last if there is a power steering cooler were would that be and what am i looking for. thanks
there is no line so what i think it is is just a metal line that must run like a cooler and that is were the problem is can i just get rid of that metal line and just run the normal two ? i dont use the truck much just to plow a little and go to the dump.
auto zone's website shows that the lines is $18.99 Part#91651. It may be worth rep placing, and am not sure that you can do without the one.
it will clearly have a line from the power steering to the master cylinder.
I have seen in one instance where a chevy utility had a power steering cooler. I have never seen another one but it sounds like it. If you had a Boost assist (wich is where the power steering pump is the booster for the brakes) you would know it by looking at the master cylinder.
