With that Crossmember Broken It is putting a Strain on the Tranny. Replace the Crossmember and then Check your Linkage and the Bell housing Bolts on the Tranny.

2003 mercury grand marquis when shifting from park to drive car wont engage as in it seems to be in neutral slightly rolling forward move shift lever to reverse and it will go into reverse sometimes

Check transmission fuid level first. If its low I recommend LUCAS transmission fluid to fill it. If that does not fix it then it could be loose shifting linkage and will need to be tightened. To tell would require a second person to either shift or watch transmission cable/rod to see if it is working properly. With vehicle drive tires off the ground you can also try shifting it manually from the linkage on side of transmission case. It could ultimately be a blown tranny where on the inside the chain or belt has stretched or broken. Some transmissions have adjusting screw on outside of case or within transmission pan. Also it could be worn or stripped gears or sprockets inside in which case it would need a new tranny or rebuild.

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee transmission no forward has good reverse fluid level good color good no burnt smell. No slipping prior was coasting up on light it turned green and when I hit the gas nothing

Okay, first check the linkage going from the shifter to the tranny. Block the wheels and have someone watch the shift linkage on the trans while shifting. Maybe it's just loose, broken, or stripped. If linkage is good, it's either your shifter solenoids or torque converter

My 1996 Honda accord will not easily shift into 3rd and 5th gear ONLY SOMETIMES when it doesn't I have to try about 2-3 times before it will go into gear eventually

There could only be a couple possibilities for this to happen. First, with standard shift transmissions the shifter linkage could be worn being that it only happens with 3rd and 5th gears, as this shifter slide works for both of these gears. If this is the case it is only a matter of visually inspecting the linkage for worn or broken parts and replacing them or adjusting the linkage which is the inexpensive fix that I hope you are looking at. Second, This could be caused by the syncronizers within the transmission are going bad/worn or broken. In either case the transmission will need to be removed and repaired or replaced which is the expensive route that I pray is not the way you have to go! I hope that this is some help.

What causes 1996 Dodge Neon SOHC automatic transmission to delay or slip shifts?

that is a hum dinger, largest ever posted, in one shot.
very good.!
one word , the transmission slips. (never drive a slipping tranny)
overheat indicator.! that is key.
many newer cars will change the transmission shifting any time
the engine over heats.
and overheat wins over transmission , every time.
if the engine burns up, what good is any transmission.? nada.

solve overheat first.

slip or flare.
is when the engine RPM rises fast and the car dont go faster.
SLIPS.
and slipping burns up trannyclutchs and increases the damage. inside the transmission, dont do that. dont allow it,
park it and fix it.

on some tranny there is a temperature sensor that the TCM
watches and changes shift patterns based on AFT fluid temps.
and if the ATF fluid gets too hot , it takes actions. to keep the tranny from harm.

why not get a scan too and see what DTC errors there are..
DTC, engine overheate.
DTC< tranny overheat (caused by above)

What causes 95 suburban to not go into gear. tranny fluid adequate and clean. simply wont engage.

First we need to figure out what transmission you have. Crawl under the vehicle on the drivers side (be sure to chock your tires) and see if there is a black box on that side of the transmission. If so, then it is the 4L60E and there are many electronic parts that could be the culprit. Also while you're under there check and see if your shift linkage is hooked up, that will be on that same(drivers) side of the transmission. While your under there getting dirty, you could park the vehicle on level ground, chock the front wheels, jack up the entire rear of the vehicle and place it on jackstands. With the rear of the vehicle up in the air you could un-bolt the shift linkage and try to manually shift the transmission. If that works, you could have a broken shift linkage, or if you do have the 4L60E out may be that little black box where the shift linkage attaches to the transmission. Good luck and be careful!

Sometimes the transmission will not shift

Make sure fluid level is correct. Level ground, shift through the gears, back in park, check fluid. If ok, could be transmission range sensor located on top of the transmission, connected to the shift cable linkage. 60 bucks and a few bolts. Make sure its aligned right when installing.

The van is in drive in all dears Even Park And in rev. it gose"s foward ??

This sounds like the linkage that connects the shifter to the transmission has come apart or broken. Have a good look at this less expensive fix before you pin it on that very expensive transmission. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Transmission wont shift

check the kickdown/throttle valve cable. It may be bound up and stuck in the maximum position giving you extremely late shifts.

There ISN"T any modulators or vac lines on any Chrysler automatics

Car wont move.

Could be that your linkage is broken and just looks like it is shifting or a bad tranny module or tranny but i would look at the linkage and see if it is hooked up to the tranny.
