ABS and service 4wheel drive lights lit up on my 02 envoy, are they related and why?

My ABS light came on then about a week or so later my service 4 wheel drive light came on. I checked fuses and their fine. I have no problems with my brakes either. I have not used my 4 wheel drive since the 2011/2012 winter season. Now it's winter again and I need to know if they are related and how to fix them.

ABS on ? DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's are probably stored in the ABS control module . 4X4 an ABS are not related . To fix , take it to a qualified repair shop.
SERVICE 4WD: Refer to Transfer Case Circuit Description in

Transfer Case Shift Control Module
The transfer case shift control module uses the VIN information for calculations that are required for the different calibrations used based on axle ratio, transmission, tire size, and engine. The system does not know which calibration to use without this information. The transfer case shift control module monitors the speed of the front and rear propshafts in order to detect wheel slippage. When wheel slippage is detected, the module applies a clutch pack contained in side the transfer case. This clutch pack is used to lock-in and apply the front propshaft, transferring torque to the front wheels. The clutch pack is applied by a motor/encoder assembly. When slip is no longer detected by the transfer case shift control module, the clutch is no longer applied.

SOURCE: My 2002 Envoy will not shift into 4 wheel drive or

check the transfer case selector motor, they go bad and thats what happens, no 4wd and no other lights on switch because its not doing any changing of the tranfer case, to test remove motor ground it and with connector connected, try to switch to 4wd see if motor moves, you can use a test light to make sure its getting power, hope this helps.

When I drive my 2002 gmc envoy sl 4 wheel drive it rocks from side to side what's wrong with my vehicle.

Are there any lights lit on the dash when this happens ?
SERVICE 4WD: , OVERSPEED , ABS: etc... To eliminate possible problem with the electronic control modules you should have the vehicle checked for DTC'S diagnostic trouble codes in all modules on the vehicle . A code reader for OBD2 codes will not do it .You would need a professional grade scan tool ! Without seeing first hand , it sounds like a problem with the stability control or traction control ,ABS ! I suggest you take it to a ASE certified repair shop that can check it out !

No light on 4wheel dr control

There are a few things that would cause this problem.
The first and most common would be the switch itself is bad. the next would be a bad 4wheel drive encoder motor, this is the motor on the transfer case that is used to operate the 4wheel drive. The last would be the 4 wheel drive module.
You will need to do some testing, if the four wheel drive is working and goes in and out of 4 wheel drive then i would say it the switch. if it does not work correctly it may still be the switch or one of the components i listed above.I have enclosed a wiring diagram, you will need to do some testing to check system, first make sure all fuses are good. the fuses that operate the 4wd are listed on diagram, it will also tell you the location of each part. you will need to test front axle actuator and selector motor and switch, you will need a test light and a meter. hope this is helpful, good day.4_26_2012_10_13_14_pm.gif

After pressing the 4 wheel drive button it just blinks a few times and stops then 2wheel drive lights comes on. 4wheel drive worked fine the day b 4

these damn things do this all the time, my 03 ? you cant count on it to work any day of the week ! you just get lucky and it works. I get all lights flashing, i get the nuetral light on yet it is in 2 hi. I'm tired of all the codes and replacing parts, 700.00 dollars later and still the same. I just drive it and it fixes itself in a day, maybe next time i start truck. It worked the best when i sealed all the electrical plugs in moisture proof wrapping, but a few months later and its a guess game again so i just drive it !

My Advtrack, ABS and AWD all get Disableed

The sound could be isolated and may not be related to you not having 4wheel drive. You may have to inspect the speed sensors on the hubs of the wheels. You may have it inpsected and see if there could be a faulty sensor. Some 4x4 relies on sensors for 4x4 to work and these sensors also help ABS to work. Inspect the drive shafts as well. This may have caused the noise and may have affected your 4wheel drive capabilities.
