To reset the "CHANGE OIL" light, press and hold the "TRIP/OIL RESET" button on the instrument panel for 12 seconds. When the light flashes and goes out, the system is reset.

To reset the Change Oil light, open the driver's side instrument fuse panel and turn the ignition on. Press the "RESET" button and release. The light will flash. Press the button again and the system will be reset.


Grand Prix

Driver Information Center If Equipped). Turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds. If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator flashes two times, the system is resetting. Turn the ignition key to OFF, then start the vehicle. If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator comes on and stays on, repeat the procedure. To reset the OIL LIFE indictor if equipped with a Trip Computer: Press the trip MODE button until the light appears next to OIL LIFE. Press and hold the trip RESET button until the oil life percentage changes to be 99 percent.


Grand Prix

1997-98

To reset the oil life indicator, press the "MODE" button until the light next to "OIL LIFE" is lit. Press and hold "RESET" for 3 seconds until oil life percentage is 100%.


Grand Prix SE

1997

Turn the ignition on, but do not start the vehicle. Within 5 seconds, push the accelerator to the floor 3 times. Turn the ignition off. Start the car and the Change Oil Soon indicator light will be reset.

w/ Trip Computer

1988-93

To reset "CHANGE OIL", "CHANGE OIL FILTER", or the mileage of either on the Trip Compute, continually press the "SERVICE" or "SYSTEMS CHECK" button until the item appears with the mileage below it. Then press the "RESET" button and the mileage will be reset to the maximum value. If you want to reduce this value, hold the "RESET" button down and the mileage will count down. Release the button at the mileage you would like to observe.

w/ Driver Information Center

To reset "CHANGE OIL SOON" or "OIL FILTER" or to adjust the mileage on the Driver Information Center, continually press the "DIC" button until either message appears with the mileage below it. At this point, hold down the button. In 5 to 10 seconds, the mileage will count down. When it passes 0, it will cycle back to a maximum figure. Release the button when the mileage gets to the service interval you'd like to observe. If "CHANGE OIL" or "OIL FILTER" already appears, just hold the button down to reset the mileage. "CHANGE OIL" and "OIL FILTER" are reset separately.

Alero

2000-01

Turn the ignition to the ON position, engine OFF. Press the RESET button and release. The CHANGE OIL indicator will start flashing
2000: Press and release the RESET button again.
1999: Press and hold the RESET button until an audible chime is heard and then release the button.

2000-01

Turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds. If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator flashes two times, the system is resetting. Turn the key off after the the light has finished flashing, then start the vehicle. If the CHANGE OIL SOON indictor comes back on, the engine oil life monitor has not reset. Repeat the procedure again. If the vehicle is equipped with the U20 option code, the vehicle as an oil life low indicator. The oil life low indicator shows an estimate of the oil's remaining useful life. When the oil life index is less than 10 percent, the display will show OIL LIFE LOW. To reset the oil life monitor, press and hold the MODE button until the light appears next to OIL LIFE. Press and hold the trip RESET button until the oil life percentage changes to 99 percent.

To reset the "CHANGE OIL" light, turn the ignition switch to the "RUN" position with the engine off. Fully depress and release the accelerator pedal three times in five seconds. The light will flash twice and go out.


Aurora

To reset the "OIL LIFE" message, press the "ENG" button with the ignition on until "OIL LIFE PERCENTAGE" is shown. Press the "RESET" button for 5 seconds. "RESET" will appear and then "OIL LIFE" will show 100%

When "CHANGE OIL NOW" is displayed, press the "RESET" button. Press "SEL" to display "OIL". Press "SEL" to display oil life. Press and hold "RESET" for 5 seconds. A "RESET" message should display with oil life changed to 100%.

Press and release the "TEST" button on the Driver Information Center. This will illuminate "CHANGE OIL NOW" if it is not already illuminated. Press and release the "OIL" or "OIL INDEX" button. Next, press the "RESET" button and hold for at least 7 seconds.

To reset "OIL LIFE INDEX", press the "2 OPTIONS" button: three times if the vehicle is equipped with a phone and compass, once if equipped with neither. While "OIL LIFE INDEX" is displayed, press and hold the "RESET/ENTER" key at the bottom right of the 15 button switch for 5 seconds.
