2003 Passat 4 Cylinder 1.8L Turbo wagon: misfire codes for all cylinders

Got an engine light. Engine sounded a little rough during idle but nothing serious. Had codes read at Advance Auto. Showed all cylinders misfiring. I replaced all spark plugs with proper gap. Also bought a new coil pack and put it in all four positions without any change in performance. Absolutely nothing changed after all this. Engine light still on. Still a little rough at idle and seems to be a little less powerful when accelerating. What should I try next?

Its not likley to be an injector fault.the air mass meter is far more common.if you unplug it it defaults to a average value and should improve the way it runs if that is the problem.

SOURCE: 2000 passat ATQ, normally aspirated. Misfire #5.

Swap #5 injector with another one and see if the miss moves .
If the miss moves then the injector is faulty.
If the miss doesn't move do a compression test and get back to me .

I have changed a few cylinder heads under warranty for this type of problem. The exhaust valve guides wear, this causes the exhaust valve to seat badly, giving low compression. if one cylinder compresion reading is more than about 50 psi below the others, then this warrants head removal. It is quite a job, due to the fact that the camshft id chain driven. If you are up for it then once the head is removed, poor liquid into the exhaust ports and see if it leaks out through any of the exhaust valves.

pull the multi plug connectors off the coil pack and check the connections ,and then rub the pins with a soft lead pencil and see what happens

Coils and plugs are not the only things that can cause misfires. Misfires can be caused by vacuum leaks, low compression, faulty fuel injectors, clogged EGR ports (on vehicles with individual ports for each cylinder), blown head gaskets, burned valves...you can spend a LOT of money on parts by just going in and replacing things without diagnosing WHY the cylinder is misfiring.

My ford windstar 2003 hesitates during cold weather or wet conditions. But good during idle. Some time shows blinking engine light.

The flashing and rough running is to to a misfire or misfires cause by arcing due to moisture on ignition components. Eventually these misfires can lead to other problems such as damage catalytic converter. Start by identifying which cylinder(s) is/are misfiring. The arching can be reproduced with a spray bottle filled with soapy water. Spray the ignition components (wires, coils, distributor cap...)and look for the vehicle to idle rough. Replace any faulty component.

On my cadillac devill 2003 Rough idleing when it reaches normal tempretuer and check engine light gets on

Check engine light flashing and car idling low. 2003 Passat V6 4Motion. Recently replaced the timing belt. Was told this is unrelated. Need to replace Cam Belt for cylinders 4,5, and 6

First things first. The check engine light is blinking because the engine is misfiring to a point that could damage the catalytic converter. If cylinder 4 5 & 6 are all misfiring i would check the engine timing belt for proper installation. These are the cylinders for the left bank of the engine. If the belt has jumped or was installed wrong this would explain the misfires. Unfortunately this is an interference motor which means there is a high probability if the belt is on wrong, the engine valves mat be damaged. I would perform a compression test on those cylinders to verify the belt condition. Hope this helps.
