4-wheel drive will not lock-Nissan Titan

When I shift the knob the front diff lights flash and will not lock no matter what configuration I do with the knob and transmission. I checked the transmission fluid and it is up, I also have the abs light and the slip light lit and will not go off.  I am getting tired of Paying nissan for a truck that just went out of warranty.  AAAAAAAHHHHH if some one could help I would appreciate it

I have the exact same problem. My tailpipe fell off and I repaired it but about a month later the slip and abs lights came on and the next time I tried 4x4 it only flashed. I will be checking the wire harness near the tail pipe. Thanks

I checked a consumer advocate site and realized that I am not the only one with this problem. I read that there is a problem with the Nissan Titan tailpipe falling off, well the problem with this is that it melts the wire harnes that goes to the abs and rear wheel sensors. Since this system is all interconnected it causes the 4 wheel drive not to work. In particular I found an unprotected wire harness disconnected by the passanger side rear wheel that was broke, after stripping this wire and reconnecting it, it turned on the 4-wheel drive. Make sure the truck is off and it is in 2 wheel mode when this is reconnected it could cause a blown fuse or an electric shock. Trial an reading free blogs solved my $675 diognostic fee, pass this on I am sure I am not the only one with this problem.

Have 2003 f150 4wd light on but will not lock in

IF you have both front wheels in the air then either wheel will spin freely unless you have diff lock or limited slip diff. That is the nature of a diff..wd means that all 4 wheels drive but only when you have a limited slip diff or a diff locker. in action . If you have both of one side wheels in a bog you will not go any where.

1992 Land cruiser will not shift into drive

Does it have manual locking front hubs? Some people fit these to full time four wheel drive vehicles to reduce driveline effort and increase fuel efficiency. The issue is that the drive from the transfer case will find the path of least resistance which if the front hubs are not locked power will be sent through the front diff and only spin the front drive shafts. To ensure drive power is sent to the rear diff the centre diff needs to be locked. If you do have manual locking front hubs try putting them in the locked position and leave the centre diff button off and try going for a drive.

I have a 1994 toyota landcrusier and I know is allwheel drive and it supose to be allwheel drive at all the time but also has a little shift on the righ side that say high and low is an automatic truck I...

Driving a vehicle with diff lock on hard surfaces will damage the drivetrain. Try to avoid this. If your center diff is locked, be sure to press the button on the dashboard (Center diff) to the off(button out) position. (Yes, you didnt press the button, but your model automatically engages diff lock in 4lo) So dont engage 4lo on hard surfaces.
Try reversing a couple feet. This may free up the diff so that the lock can disengage. If this does not work, find a large patch of grass or gravel. Turn the steering to full lock(left or right, doesnt matter) and pull off. This should disengage the lock. It is good practice to engage the difflock at least once a month as this will keep the lockers lubricated enough so that they dont bind like yours have done.

2005 Titan le 4x4. while driving down the road the check engine light flashes and the 4LO flashes the the truck dies. I pull over turn the truck off let it set for a few seconds and then it starts up and...

Sounds like your 4x4 is engaged in 4 low. If your Tach shows High RPM then your still in 4 wheel drive

Start the truck, place in Neutral and try shifting Out of 4 Low,into 2 wheel drive then reverse for about 10-20 feet to try and help it disengage from 4 Low.

As far as your 4WD light problems, can't help you. The loose hose sounds like the front diff vent hose.
