Overdrive light started flashing

Usually a transmission slipping isn't due to the drive shaft, but the transmission itself. I know this might sound a like a crazy question, but have you checked the transmission fluid levels, could be a leak, if not full would cause slippage.

When the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) isn't engaging or locks in engagement the light flashes a warning...The TCC solenoid may stick due to dirty transmission fluid...If the Check Engine Light
(CEL) is not lit have your transmission fluid changed...If it is lit the code is probably pointing at a defective TCC, Computer (PCM) or the clutch itself... you can take the vehicle to an auto parts store and have them read and define the trouble code for free...saailer

a worn trans--but check fluid level and condition--add a trans cleaner like lucas --sea foam or amsoil and see if it improves--make sure car is not overheating and cooling lines are ok--get car scanned--disconnect batt fora few and see if issue subsides--thats an electronic trans

On some makes of vehicles the overdrive light flashes because the computer has logged a fault code,sometimes because it is overtemp eg too hot (maybe trans fluid issue might require servicing,or fluid level is low. Try checking fluid level and condition if possible. Good luck there.

your overdrive off light came on because the transmission was running too hot. You need to do two things; change your fluid and clean the trans oil cooler in or in front of your radiator. dropping the temperature of a transmission will prolong its life dramatically. I have diagnosed and rebuilt quite a few of them, and I do a lot of off road modifications where transmissions have to do extreme work.

normally most overdrives wont work unless proper fluid levels are maintained..check fluid level on stick and add to full..if still having issues, replace filter in trans pan and refill to full.if still having issue time to replace..good luck

Sounds like you have a problem in the Overdrive sensor or the lockup in the converter. You should see if a scanner will identify this problem. Ask at the autoparts store about "What they show for an Overdrive switch or Servo?". Autozone, Advance, and Oreillys do free scans.

Check your transmission fluid as the trans works hard in top gear with pressure directly driving the tallest gear in the trans. Low fluid levels could be causing the converter to kick out of Lockup.

When was the last time you had the transmission filter and fluid changed? Sounds like the filter is clogged.

I had that same problem a few months ago. I didn't really think anything of it because my car still drove the same and I didn't know it could turn into a big problem. A year ago I had my transmission rebuilt on my cherokee then this year a few weeks after that little light started having problems, my car just stopped moving. I had it towed back to the shop and they needed to replace a bad part on my transmission again. So if you've previously had problems with your transmission I would suggest getting that checked out so you don't get stuck on the side of the road for 4 hours like I did. Sorry if this doesn't help, I'm not exactly a car expert I just have lots of problems with mine.

Your transmission fluid contain water,thats why the colour of the fluid changed to pink.And of such the clutch is slipping causing the engine to reve up before shifting - Check transmission cooler.
